Scotty Clell Cothran

Scotty Clell Cothran died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.
Mr. Cothran lived most of his life in Vicksburg, where he attended Hinds Community College. He worked in the offshore oil industry and served as an Army Ranger during Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart and  Bronze Star.
He later moved to Nashville, Tenn., where he worked as a singer and songwriter before moving back to Vicksburg to be with family and continue his musical career.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Jeanette Jerls and a brother, Joseph Cothran.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Hoxie Cothran; two sons, Scotty Cothran Jr. and Ryan Cothran; a daughter, D’Marla Brinson; and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Reiber officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
