Vicksburg native Anne Elizabeth Buys was honored Tuesday by the Mississippi Senate for her representation of the state during the Miss American’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Anne Elizabeth, who is Miss Riverland and 2013 Miss Mississippi’s Oustanding Teen, is a senior at Porters Chapel Academy and is also a scholarship winner of the Hattiesburg-based Leaf Foundation.

She the daughter of Mark and Judy Buys.

Along with her crown and title, Anne Elizabeth won over $4,000 in cash scholarships and $30,000 in tuition waiver scholarships.
