PATRICIA DILL

Patricia “Pat” Dill died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

She was 56.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Dill was employed with LeTourneau Co. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose Dobbs Goshorne; two sons, Charles Williams and Anthony Goodwin; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Williams and Bobby Dill, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Angie Goodwin of Vicksburg and Sherry Williams of England; a sister, Linda Dill of Vicksburg; and three brothers, Daniel Goshorne of Florida and Eddie Goshorne and George Goshorne, both of Ruston, La.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Paul Gaunt officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

DELENA DACUS GILBREATH

TALLULAH Delena Dacus Gilbreath died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Madison Parish Hospital.

She was 79.

Born in Dardanelle, Ark., Mrs. Gilbreath had lived in Tallulah for the past 59 years. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Tallulah Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Tallulah Garden Club and Tallulah Sewing Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Earl E. Gilbreath of Tallulah; two daughters, Linda Gilbreath Philpott of Montgomery, Ala., and Bettye Gilbreath Whaley of Baton Rouge; three sons, George Earl Gilbreath of Concord, N.C., Jerry Lynn Gilbreath of Monroe and Gary Ben Gilbreath of Bossier City; two brothers, Holman Dacus of Transylvania and Amon Dacus of Conroe, Texas; a sister, Hazel Feder of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Tallulah Church of Christ with Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Providence under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Gilbreath, Jerry W. Gilbreath, Steven Whaley, William L. Philpott, Ron Hallsell and Robbie Mitchell.

DR. JOSEPH VINCENT LAVECCHIA

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. Dr. Joseph Vincent Lavecchia died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

He was 81.

A native of Vicksburg, Dr. Lavecchia moved to Chattanooga in 1951 following his military service. He practiced pediatric medicine for 45 years until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Rotary Club of Chattanooga. He was a founding member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, serving as clinical director for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and the Chattanooga Pediatrics Society.

Dr. Lavecchia helped develop Chattanooga’s Children’s Hospital, where he served as chief of staff for a number of years. He served on the Memorial Hospital Development Board and was awarded the Doctor’s Doctor Award of Pediatrics in 1993. In 1998, he received the Memorial Hospital Humanitarian Award.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Gerache “Pap” Lavecchia of Chattanooga; a daughter, Mary Jo Lavecchia of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Amee Warwick and Mary Sullivan Moore, both of Chattanooga, and Joey Warwick of Vicksburg; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church with the Revs. George E. Schmidt and Michael Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery D. Boehm, Edward N. Boehm, Doug Bullard, Gary Chazen, Harry Kythas, Mike Millard, Tom Rowland and Dr. Sam Lizarraga.

MIDLAND, Texas C.L. “Roy” Swarts died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Midland Hospital in Midland, Texas.

He was 87.

Born in Moulton, Iowa, Mr. Swarts formerly lived in Vicksburg. He was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers administrative branch. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Swarts of Midland; a brother, Herman Swarts of Moulton; and a sister, Essie Adams of Bloomfield, Iowa.

Services were in Midland.
