PATSY ANN DAY

Patsy Ann Day died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 49.

Born in Memphis, Mrs. Day had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 35 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Day.

She is survived by two daughters, Tammy Swayze of Brandon and Tasha Gladwell of Vicksburg; a son, Patrick Lee Day of Vicksburg; three brothers, Harold Owens of Tunica, Bobby Owens of Vicksburg and Robert Cross of Wesson; two sisters, Bonnie West of Vicksburg and Linda Owens of Texas; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. E.L. Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday night at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Day, David Gladwell, Terry West, Curtis West, Willie Gladwell Sr. and Todd Hoben.

ROBERT C. KAVANAUGH

Robert “Bob” C. Kavanaugh died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Kavanaugh was born in Claiborne County and had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He was a retired electrician with R.G. LeTourneau Co. with 35 years of service. He graduated from the Electrical Vocational High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was a veteran of World War II having received the Purple Heart while serving in New Guinea. He was a member of the VFW and Bowmar Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Humphreys Kavanaugh, his parents, John T. and Sina Rushbrook Kavanaugh; and a sister, Katherine Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Dean of Vicksburg; three sons, Patrick Kavanaugh of Jackson, and Mike Kavanaugh and Kelly Kavanaugh, both of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Kay Parrish of Vicksburg; a brother, Jack Kavanaugh of Pattison; a sister, Margaret K. Martin of Jackson; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Shappley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Monday night and from 9 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Parrish, Shawn Parrish, Michael Kavanaugh, Ronnie McDaniel, J.C. Conerly and Clarence Triplett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hebler, Coy Flanagan Sr., Dr. George E. Habeeb, Debra Brown, Dr. Steven E. Zachow and John Bell.

VIRGINIA L. NEAL

Virginia L. Neal died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Neal was born in Ridgeway, Mo., and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1986. She was retired with the Social Security Administration and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Willa Pilcher of Huntsville, Texas, Sheryl McCann of Great Falls, Va., Gwen Evelyn Trimble of Vicksburg and Karen Sample of Clovis, Calif.; two sons, Mark Neal of Jacksonville, Fla., and Barry Neal of Buford, Ga.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were at 3 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
