SYLVIA FARRIS

Sylvia Farris died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 66.

A native of Vicksburg, Miss Farris was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in speech and drama and bachelor of science degree in physical education. She received her master’s degree in education from Louisiana State University. She taught for over 29 years at Meridian High School, retiring in 1990, and returned to Vicksburg where she took a position with All Saints’ Episcopal School. She taught liturgical dance and was on the staff of Lake Junaluska in North Carolina. She was a member of the Christian Dance Fellowship USA, Dancing Through Life of Washington, D.C., the Sacred Dance Guild and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, N.J. Farris.

She is survived by her mother, Speler Assaf Farris of Vicksburg; a sister, Linda Tuggle of Vicksburg; a brother, Wayne Farris of Vicksburg; two nephews, Jimmy Tuggle and Jody Tuggle, both of Vicksburg; two great-nieces, Speler Laird and Michelle Tuggle, both of Vicksburg; a great-nephew, Daniel Tuggle of Vicksburg; a great-great-nephew, Gage Laird of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Clifton McInnis officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Friday night at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tuggle, Tommy Birchett, Jody Tuggle, Neil Nations, Chris Laird and Ricky Hartzog.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert “Bubba” Evans, Freddy Abraham, Eddie Kalil, Skippy Tuminello, Tommy Assaf, Ray Fountain, Joe Gerache, Ronnie Grubbs and Richard Thomas.

NANCY H. SANDERSON

Nancy H. Sanderson died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at her home. She was 94.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mrs. Sanderson was the daughter of the late James and Flora Jenkins Hennessey. She was a former 4H Club leader in the Redwood community. She was a member of the Warren County Home Demonstration Club, Redwood United Methodist Church and Hawkins United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred R. Sanderson; a daughter, Marge Saxon; a son, Henry B. Sanderson; a daughter-in-law, Inez Sanderson; two grandsons, Lt. James R. Saxon and Sidney Sanderson Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Carolyn Brooke Sanderson; a brother, James Wright; and two sisters, Nellie Roser and Flora Fondren.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris S. Brock and Joy McVan, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Ray Sanderson of Redwood and Sidney Sanderson of Eufala, Okla.; a sister, Florence Williams of Vicksburg; a brother, Charlie Jobe of Tallulah; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and other relatives including a daughter-in-law who cared for her, Vi Sanderson of Redwood.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Friday night at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be J.D. Brock Jr., Kevin Sanderson, Rusty Sanderson, Thomas Sanderford, Don McVan Jr. and Johnny Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Norwood, the Rev. Roy Givens, Kathy Yelverton, Ted Porter, Dr. Karl Hatten, William F. Floyd, Bob Hollowell, Dr. Daniel Edney, Billy James, Lynda Smith and the staff of Haworth Home Health.

MYLES LEE TAYLOR

GREENVILLE Myles Lee Taylor died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. He was 67.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Bell Holden Taylor and Nora Taylor; and a son, Donnie Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Taylor of Rolling Fork; three sons, Jimmy Taylor of Vicksburg, Floyd Taylor of Greenville and Charles Taylor of Virginia Beach, Va.; four daughters, Theresa Scott and Valeria Cooper, both of Memphis, Mildred Smith and Letha Taylor, both of Rolling Fork; five sisters, Elnora Taylor, Nellie Mae Taylor, Fannie Taylor and Lena Mae Taylor, all of Vicksburg, and Callie Mae Taylor of Gary, Ind.; a brother, Willie Taylor of Vicksburg; 27 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.

JACK G. WALTON

ROLLING FORK Jack G. Walton died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 75.

Born in Shelby County, Ala., Mr. Walton had lived in Rolling Fork since 1948. He was a retired road foreman for Sharkey County Highway Department. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II and a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church in Rolling Fork.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Cole Walton.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel N. Walton of Rolling Fork; two sisters, Gayle Russell of Bessimer, Ala., and Annie Edna Jesse of Alabaster, Ala.; two brothers, Graham Walton of Fairfield, Ala., and Fred Walton of Pleasant Grove, Ala.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Revs. Carl Barnes and Alfred Hodnett officiating. Burial will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Friday night at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Windham, Arthur Lawller, J.M. Barnette, Wayne Box, Penley Sorrells and Don Mahaffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. David Halinski, Dr. Michael Baker, Dr. Dan Jackson, Gene Fulton, Dalton Norris and Allen Yelberton.
