MINNIE FLORENCE PIERCE
NEWELLTON Minnie Florence Pierce died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000. She was 90.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Dardanelle, Ark. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newellton and the president of the Young At Heart Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Deloyt Pierce.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jackie Pierce of Haughton, La.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Jean and James Bond of Marshall, Texas, and Sherron and Larry Greeson of Dallas; and other relatives.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Newellton with the Rev. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial followed in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton.
WILLIE SAMPSON
Services for Willie Sampson will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Edwards.
Visitation will be at Williams Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Sampson died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at Sonny Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. He was 83.
Mr. Sampson retired with Bunge Grain Company. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Beatrice Sampson; his parents, Pink and Josie Sampson; two sisters, Mattie Reynolds and Daisy Mae Barnes; and a brother, Leon Sampson.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Yates of Los Angeles and Larry Sampson of Vicksburg; a daughter, Jo Ann Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Horace Sampson of Chicago; and other relatives, including Katie Mae Bass, Masola Perkins and Bonnie Berry James, all of Vicksburg.
