MAURICE E. DIXON JR.
PENSACOLA, Fla. Maurice E. Dixon Jr. died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at V.A. Hospital in Dallas. He was 71.
Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Dixon retired as a Naval officer. He received the first master’s of business administration degree awarded by the University of West Florida. He attended First Baptist Church in Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice E. Dixon Sr., and a son Timothy Ray Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine V. Dixon of Pensacola; his mother, Margaret Schaeffer of Vicksburg; two daughters, Diana McKay and Cyndee Knowles, both of Pensacola; a son, Maurice Dixon III; three brothers, James Dixon and James David Schaeffer, both of Vicksburg, and Lonnie Dixon of Florisant, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Schaeffer and Martha Dixon, both of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at Harper-Morris Memorial Funeral Home in Pensacola. Burial followed at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
M.C. PAMPLEY SR.
M.C. Pampley Sr. died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 73.
Mr. Pampley was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Army with more than 25 years of service. He was a member of the Esquire Club, the American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213 and a board member of MIDD-West Industries. He was a volunteer with the Crisis Intervention Help Line and a member of Mount Heroden M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Ray, and his father, Lewis Pampley.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Pampley of Vicksburg; two sons, Mack C. Pampley Jr. and Gregory L. Pampley, both of Vicksburg; six daughters, Peggy A. Simpson of New York, Linda M. Stevens, Patricia Kinnard and Michelle R. Johnson, all of Vicksburg, Rose M. “Tangie” Sanders of Jackson, and Kimberly A. Love of Montgomery, Ala.; one sister, Hattie Winston of Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
