ODELL DAVID BLACKLEDGE

ANGUILLA Odell David Blackledge died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

He was 82.

Mr. Blackledge was a retired county worker and sportsman. He was of the Baptist faith and a native of Jones County.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Blackledge, and a grandson, George Culipher.

Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Blackledge of Anguilla; two daughters, Louise Huggins of Greenville and Jennie Hale of Clarksdale; a brother, David Blackledge of Dallas; three sisters, Ardell Keith of El Paso, Texas, Vera Roundtree of Louise, Miss., and Estella Baxter of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, including Karen Screws of Rolling Fork; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Baptist Church in Anguilla. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Collins, Bobbie Blackledge, Brad Clinkscales, Darrell Smith, Bill Cooper, Douglas Cranford, Peter Byrd and Johnny Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Calvin Masterson, Dr. John Estes, Frank Screws, Jessie Hardgrave and Donald Phillips.

NORMAN CRUEL

FAYETTE Norman Cruel died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Meadowcrest Hospital in New Orleans.

He was 49.

Born in Natchez, Mr. Cruel was a resident of New Orleans. He was a courier with Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans and a member of Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church in Fayette.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Starks Cruel; two uncles, Norman “Big Norm” Cruel and Jim Cruel; and a niece, Debra Cruel.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Thomas Cruel of New Orleans; his father, Melvin Cruel of Fayette; a son, Fredrick Cruel of New Orleans; a daughter, Laresta Cruel of New Orleans; three brothers, Richard Cruel of Natchez and Joseph Cruel and Roosevelt Cruel, both of Fayette; three sisters, Helen Jackson and Susie Short, both of Fayette and Rose Carpenter of Lorman; one grandchild, Fredrick Cruel Jr. of New Orleans; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church in Fayette. Burial will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Cruel, Brian Hall, Arthur Jackson, Leroy Gaines, Jimmy Barnes and Jimmy Earl Strander.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Cruel, Joseph Cruel, Roosevelt Cruel, Marty K. Carpenter, Marlon Short, Mark Cruel, Floyd Shelvy and Joseph Cruel Jr.

JERRY WAYNE KIRK

Jerry Wayne Kirk died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

He was 52.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Kirk had lived in Pearl for the past seven years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Lillian P. and Bud Hughes, both of Vicksburg; his father and stepmother, Hubert D. Sr. and Romana Kirk, both of Biloxi; two brothers, Hubert D. Kirk III of Biloxi and Donald K. Kirk of Atlanta; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Donald Kirk III, Robert Redditt III, Keith Keen, Joe Redditt, James Keen and Jesse Bufkin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Redditt and the staff of Beachwood College of Hudspeth Center in Pearl.
