Road work slows traffic on Halls Ferry

Nelson Williams, an employee of J.B. Talley Construction, holds a sign at Halls Ferry and Cain Ridge roads Monday afternoon to signal drivers to slow down as construction at the intersection continues. Beginning Tuesday, traffic will be reduced to one lane as workers bury drainage pipes for the intersection that is being moved south so that Cain Ridge’s junction with Halls Ferry creates a four-way intersection with the one at nearby Roseland Drive. Scott Sones, a site inspector with ABMB Engineers, suggested that employees at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineering Research and Development Center enter the complex by an alternate route to save time and congestion. The construction work is expected to take up to six months. (The Vicksburg Post/PAT SHANNAHAN)
