MATILDA BYNUM

REDWOOD Matilda Bynum died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 75.

A native and lifelong resident of Redwood, Mrs. Bynum farmed and was a homemaker. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker Moore and Jessie Mae Sims; a sister and a brother.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Bynum of Redwood; a son, Raymond Bynum Jr. of Redwood; two daughters, Odessa Williams and Laura White, both of Chicago; and other relatives and friends.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

FRANCES COLE KEEN

REDWOOD Frances Cole Keen died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Heritage House Nursing and Retirement Center. She was 85.

A native and lifelong resident of Warren County, Mrs. Keen was the daughter of the late Dan S. and Alice Hackler Cole. She retired from the Warren County School District as a bus driver. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Keith Keen Sr.; two children, Bobby Dale and Brenda Gail Keen; and a great-grandson, Justin Field.

She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Kelly and Jane Griffith, both of Redwood; two sons, James Sonny Keen and Karl Keith Keen Jr., both of Redwood; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Beasley, chaplain of the Veterans Center, and Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Milldale Cemetery in Redwood.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Keen, Mike Keen, Frank Keen, Robert Griffin, Nelson Kelly, Ricky Hill, Jimmy Keen and David Keen.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Dorman, Charles Burroughs, James A. Keen, Ray Bufkin, Dr. Paul Pierce, Kirk Harper, E.O. “Buddy” Whitaker, Dudley L. Keen, David McLeod, Dean Cole, Walter Whatley, J.C. Martin, Perry Young, Bobbie Lou Rogers, Irma Howard Hintson and Dr. Eugene Ferris.

LEE WASHINGTON JR.

JOLIET, Ill. Lee “Man Pan” Washington Jr. died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000. He was 56.

Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Washington Sr. and Rosie Washington; and a brother, Eddie “Soul” Washington.

Survivors include Beverly Washington of Detroit; three sons, Terrance Rush, Dwayne Washington and Myron Kirk Washington, all of Joliet; two daughters, Rosalind Tucker and LaKendra Washington, both of Joliet; five brothers, Billy Ferguson, Hubert Ferguson, James Washington and Joseph Washington, all of Vicksburg, and Willie Barnette of Edwards; four sisters, Clara Carter, Vera Washington and Leola Williams, all of Vicksburg, and Cassie Cameron of Port Gibson; his grandmother, Leoda Ferguson of Vicksburg; 17 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including Melvin Ross, Austin Andrews, the Woods brothers and Merla Scott, all of Vicksburg, and the Barnett family of Edwards.
