GLORIA LANIER DITTO

Gloria Lanier Ditto died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 69.

A native of Greenville, Mrs. Ditto was the daughter of the late Clifford Penn and Catherine Harlen Lanier Sr. She was a graduate of Carr Central High School and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Martin Lanier.

Survivors include her husband, Henry F. Ditto Sr. of Vicksburg; four sons, Henry F. Ditto Jr. and Clifford A. Ditto, both of Vicksburg, Michael P. Ditto of Dallas and Scott P. Ditto of El Paso; a sister, Mary Catherine L. Heard of Atlanta; two brothers, Edward C. Lanier of Vicksburg and Clifford P. Lanier Jr. of Sardis, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. James O’Riordan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Wake will be at 7:30.

Pallbearers will be David Weeks, Greg Dunn, Michael Weaver, Jerry Derivaux, Victor Agostinelli and Larry Duckworth.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Murray Whitaker, Dr. Joe Ross, Dr. Bill Wooten and Dr. Michael Davis.

HATTIE DIXON

ROLLING FORK Hattie Dixon died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 96.

Survivors include four sons, Oscar Jean Dixon of Long Beach, Calif., Calvin C. Dixon and Cletis Dixon, both of Detroit, and M.D. Dixon of South Bend, Ind.; four daughters, Aretha Simpkin and Larvernece Dixon, both of Detroit, Ivola Rascoe of Rolling Fork and Alma D. Dixon of South Bend; three sisters, Odelia Johnson of Jackson, Annie Lee of New Orleans and Bertha Thomas of California; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives including Raymond Rascoe of Chicago.

Services will be at noon Sunday at Mount Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. J.M. Kimble officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

MAGGIE SCOTT HENRY

LORMAN Maggie Scott Henry died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Claiborne County Hospital in Port Gibson. She was 83.

Born in Jefferson County, Mrs. Henry was a retired laborer with Alcorn State University.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Henry; her parents, Alva Monroe and Charity Scott; and a grandson, Tony G. Mackey.

Survivors include two daughters, Josephine Johnson and Louester Mackey, both of Lorman; her adopted daughter, Lenora Banks of Las Vegas; a nephew, Wilbert C. Johnson of Llano, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion No. 1 Baptist Church in Rodney with the Rev. Emma Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Rodney.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Roderick Bailey, Cedric Bailey, Willie Shelvy, Robert Keys, Julius Chambers and Terry Banks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Mackey Jr., Rene C. Mackey, Michael D. Mackey, James D. Mackey, Givonni Mackey and Charles H. Davis Jr.

NANCY MILLER

ROLLING FORK Nancy Miller died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was 87.

Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jessie M. Brown of Greenville; one granddaughter, Shirley Grisby of Greenville; five great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including the John D. Holland family of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Strangers Home M.B. Church in Glen Allan with the Rev. R.C. Addison officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Allan Cemetery.

LENA SANDERS

Lena Sanders died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 88.

A native of Lexington, Mrs. Sanders was a longtime resident of Yazoo County and was a resident of Vicksburg. She was a retired PBX operator at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Yazoo County.

She is survived by a daughter, Lena Mae Pepper of Louise, Miss; a son, James Terrell Sanders of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Danny Pepper, Sam Pepper, Charles Haddad, Bubba Pepper, Terry Sanders and Steve Cook.

JAMES E. SMITH

TALLULAH James E. “Skip” Smith died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, as the result of an automobile accident. He was 57.

Born in Natchitoches, Mr. Smith had lived in Madison Parish most of his life. He was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two sons, Jamie Smith of Tallulah and Blake Smith of Epps; a daughter, Breanne Smith of Tallulah; a brother, Kenneth J. Smith of Tallulah; his mother, Zula Lord Smith of Winnsboro; four sisters, Barbara Ann Watson of Monroe, Jerry Richardson of St. Joseph, Fae Holloway of Baskin, La., and Glyn Lawson of Monroe; nieces, nephews; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Richardson, Bo Holloway, Ronnie Deckleman, Artie Skeldon, Charles Grace and Danny Beard.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Sykes.
