Porters Chapel Academy battled Woodland Hills to a third-quarter tie, but the Wildcats put it away in the second half, 20-7, in Jackson.

Dustin Abbott’s 25-yard option run would have tied it, 14-14, in the third, but the pitch-out was ruled a forward lateral.

Andrew Embry’s 57-yard reception from Kyle Ehrhardt put the Eagles (1-1) ahead in the first and they held the lead until near the end of the third. Ehrhardt was 3-of-6 for 101 yards. Embry made two of the catches for 91 yards and had 10 tackles and an interception, which he returned 40 yards. Abbott finished with 42 yards on 10 carries and Jeremiah Riggs had 37 yards on nine carries. Heath Smith also had 10 tackles and Walter Bliss had nine, three of which went for a loss.

“They looked like a college football team lined up there,” PCA assistant Randy Wright said.

PCA had three turnovers. A dropped punt near the end of the game led to a Wildcat touchdown with about a minute left.

C-Hunt 14, Plain Dealing 6

Jonathan Reisch scored on a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter to seal it for the Wildcats (2-0). Wesley Purvis had an 11-yarder in the first. Craig Gilbert kicked both PATs. Matt Burrell finished with 92 yards on 19 carries and caught three passes for 32 yards. Reisch finished with 67 yards on 10 carries. Sam McLemore led the defense with nine solo tackles and Jordan Hammond had nine tackles and an interception.

SIA 51, CM&I 0

Carter Abney had scoring runs of 90, 69 and 8 yards and rushed for 175 yards and hauled in a 43-yard scoring pass to lead SIA (1-1) to the conference win. Will Martin passed for two scores, including a 4-yarder to Jordan Windham. Phillip Bass returned an interception 21 yards for a score and Jim Woods punched one in from a yard out. Justin Nipper, Peter Fisher and Jake Perkins all had two-point conversions.

Tallulah Aca 26, Glenbrook 6

Edwin Fortenberry scored on runs of 10 and 8 yards, Ryan Baker had a 4-yarder and Josh Coped returned an interception 40 yards for the Trojans’ final score. Tallulah (2-0), which held Glenbrook to 32 yards rushing, scored all of its points in the first half.

Tallulah High 24, Davidson 0

Michael Lewis ran the opening kick back 84 yards and scored on a 24-yard pass from Troy Gaines in the fourth in the jamboree. In between, Donny Skinner returned a blocked punt 39 yards and James Fletcher caught a 28-yard strike from Gaines.

Tensas 28, Huntington 18

Scott Crigler and David Crigler combined to overcome eight Tensas’ turnovers in a non-division win over Huntington.

David Crigler rushed for 92 yards, and completed seven passes for 84 yards and had a 22-yard touchdown pass to Scott Crigler as the Chiefs came back from a 12-7 halftime deficit. After two Barrett Arthur second-quarter touchdowns to lift Huntington to a 12-0 lead, Lee Hale scored on a 3-yard run.

Tensas (2-0) took a 15-12 lead at the end of the third after a Scott Crigler 42-yard pass to Bryant Killen. The Chiefs scored again in the fourth on a David Crigler 22-yard pass to Scott Crigler.

Gregory Clayton’s 4-yard run ended the scoring for Tensas.

Terry 43, Raymond 30

The Michael Fields era at Raymond High got off to a slow start, but the coach promised a bright future.

“We have a great chance to be a good ballclub this year,” Fields said. “I saw a lot of good things.”

Terry led 20-8 at halftime and opened a 33-14 lead after the fourth quarter, then Fields started to air it out.

Raymond, using mostly a fourth-quarter passing attack, scored 16 in the fourth quarter.
