LAWRENCE E. BOOTH

DANBURY, Conn.Lawrence E. Booth died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Danbury Hospital. He was 38.

Mr. Booth was born in Washington, D.C., and moved to Brookfield as a child. He had been employed as a mechanical technician for the Perkin-Elmer Corporation and was an accomplished bass guitarist.

He was preceded in death by his father, Barrett L. Booth.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Booth; his mother, Mary Booth of Brookfield; a daughter, Lauren Marie Booth of Danbury; a sister, Elizabeth B. Johnson of Higganam; his paternal grandmother, Shelby Preston Martin of Vicksburg, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Joseph DeSantis of Brookfield.

A gathering of friends will take place at the Green Funeral Home in Danbury Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

MINNIE DAVIDSON BYER

Minnie Davidson Byer died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at her daughter’s home in Katy, Texas. She was 75.

Mrs. Byer was a native of Delhi and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Minnie McPherson Davidson, and her husband, John D. Byer.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie B. Bonelli of Katy, Texas; a son, Dr. John L. Byer of Livingston, Ala.; two sisters, Zula Davidson Jones of Vicksburg and Dolly Capps of England, Ark.; a brother, Dewey Davidson of Lawrence Kan., and two grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed at the Henry Family Cemetery.

Memorials my be made to the Highland Baptist Church building fund, 3518 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, or any favorite charity.

Pallbearers were Phillip Jones, Dewey Jones, Emmett Jones, Glen Jones, Josef Skedie and Glen Jones, Jr.

HELEN K. “CRICKET” CARROLL

Helen K. “Cricket” Carroll died Thursday Nov. 9, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 71.

Mrs. Carroll was born in Nebraska and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1990. She was a self-employed bookkeeper and a member of the Vicksburg Theater Guild, the Vicksburg Art Association and the CamArt Association. She was also a Pilgrimage hostess for the Martha Vick House.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Anna Frandsan Kirkpatrick, and her husband, Rodney Carroll.

She is survived by two sons, Weston D. Callender of Friday Harbor, Wash., and Patrick D. Callender of Springfield, Ore.; three sisters, Norma Earl, Chris Spence and Mary Montgomery, all of Redmon, Wash.; a brother, Jack Kirkpatrick of Nebraska; and a grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mississippi Division, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson.

ROSCOE BRUCE EDMOND

GRAND RAPIDS Roscoe Bruce Edmond died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was 87.

Mr. Edmond was born in Warren County. He retired from General Motors in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Judge Edmond; his parents, Annie Ruffin and Ralph Edmond; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by three sisters, India Collins, Lottie Brown and Inez Simmons; three daughters, Leroy R. “Mary” Edmond, Annie Selena Miller and Joyce Mae Edmond; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
