BARBARA WOODS CAUSEY

JACKSON Barbara Woods Causey died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 65.

Mrs. Causey was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. She had lived in Jackson for a number of years, where she was a member and former longtime Sunday school teacher at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. For the past 25 years, she had an in-home day care and recently retired.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Norton and William E. Causey; and her parents, Carroll Eugene and Grace Clark Woods.

She is survived by two daughters, Jody C. Herm and Amy C. Davidson, both of Jackson, two sons, Shane Causey of Brandon and Scott Causey of Blacksburg, S.C.; two sisters, Jane Woods Katzenmeyer of Vicksburg and Rita Coker of Huntsville, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven under the direction of Wright & Ferguson in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

NICHOLAS CHERRY

TALLULAH Nicholas Cherry died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center. He was 72.

Born in Orleans Parish, La., Mr. Cherry had lived in Madison Parish for the past eight years.

He leaves no survivors.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry McGaha officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.

JAMES DAVID FLOWERS SR.

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. Services for James David Flowers Sr. were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, La. Burial followed at Bethesda Cemetery in Edwards.

Mr. Flowers died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was 50.

A native of Vicksburg, he had lived in Denham Springs for a number of years. He had worked at R.L. Hall and Associates and was employed with Energy Equipment.

He was a member of Beech Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors include two sons, James David Flowers Jr. of Lebanon, Ky., and Julius Ray Flowers of Jeffersonville, Ind.; his parents, Hattie and Lester Flowers of Edwards; two sisters, Lynn Bolts of Longview, Texas, and Mary Goza of Edwards; four brothers, Wiley Flowers of Vicksburg, Ray Flowers of Utica and Bill Flowers and Darrell Flowers, both of Edwards; three grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Pat Hartley.

LOUISE CAUSEY GALBREATH

Louise Causey Galbreath died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 68.

Mrs. Galbreath was a native of Liberty and had retired as a seamstress from the Carter Company. She was a member of the Clan Galbreath Association, the Scottish Caledonian Society and Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Galbreath Jr.; a sister, Mitzi Bobo; two brothers, George Causey and the Rev. Joe Causey; and her parents, Grady and Arah Johnson Causey.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Lott of Vicksburg, Sue Brown of Hohenwald, Tenn., and Laura Strickland of Ridgeland; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon Friday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Davidson, Daniel Brown, John Lott, Buddy Lott, Sean Lott, Trey Brown and Stephen Strickland.

ROY LATHEM

EDWARDS Roy Lathem died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home in Edwards. He was 68.

A native of Scott County, Mr. Lathem had attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He retired from the U.S. military after 33 years of service. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, with the U.S. Air Force and the Mississippi Air National Guard. After he retired, he was a sales manager for Pitney Bowes. He attended Edwards Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Lathem of Jackson; a son, Michael Lathem of Edwards; a sister, Barbara Hardin of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Edwards Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Thursday night at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

LEVELLE HUTCHINS STRUBE

WESSON Levelle Hutchins Strube died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven. She was 82.

Born in Zama, Mrs. Strube was a former resident of Vicksburg. She was retired from the U.S. Civil Service. She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star and Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Roy C. Strube of Wesson; a daughter, Edith Strube Overstreet of Wesson; a sister, Mary Ellen Jones of Brookhaven; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg with the Rev. Terry White officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

WILLIE J. WELCH

EDWARDS Willie J. Welch died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, in Detroit. He was 40.

A native of Edwards, Mr. Welch was a bricklayer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Jannie Hicks Welch; a brother, Lewis Welch; and a sister, Betty Dixon Welch.

He is survived by a daughter, Shanice Ruffins; four brothers, John Percy Welch, Shepeard Welch, Robert Welch and Lewis Brown Welch; six sisters, Mary Welch, Shirley Welch, Diane Dillard, Annette Foster, Mary Louise Brown and Michelle Ren Chambers; and other relatives, including members of the Whitley, Hicks, Kelker, Yates, Morgan and Young families.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Oak Ridge M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery.
