PEGGY JEAN TINDOLL BRUNT

VAIDEN Peggy Jean Tindoll Brunt died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

She was 64.

Mrs. Brunt lived in Vaiden, where she was employed by Piggly Wiggly. She was a member of Carmack Community Club and Hebron Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Billie Jean Halderman of Maben, Cindy Stewart of Winona and Angela Brunt of Kosciusko; two brothers, Doyle Tindoll of Jackson and Vicksburg and Quinton Tindoll of Vaiden; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hebron Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Montgomery County.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko.

JOHN I. DAVE

PORT GIBSON John I. Dave died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at his home in Port Gibson.

He was 57.

Mr. Dave is survived by his wife, Sarah Ann Dave of Pattison; three sons, Matthew Dave and Martin Dave, both of New Orleans, and Mark Dave of Pattison; a daughter, Margaret Dave of New Orleans; two brothers, Bruce Dave and Cedric Dave, both of New Orleans; a sister, Sharon Hester of St. Louis; two grandsons; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eddie Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

DOROTHY HOUSE FOSTER

Dorothy House Foster died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at her home in Vicksburg.

She was 80.

Born in Yazoo County, Mrs. Foster had lived in Vicksburg since 1946. She and her husband owned and operated the 30 Minute Laundry for more than 35 years. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Melvin Foster; her parents, Samuel and Ethel Rogers House; three sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy M. Blankenship of Gulfport and Pamela K. Corulla of Vicksburg; a son, Billy R. Foster of Vicksburg; two sisters, Hattie Irene Howell of Bentonia and Catherine Cartwright of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Oliver Ladnier officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Doug Foster, Ron Pownall, Greg Foster, Billy Goodson, Ronnie Smith, Ronnie Gibson and Patrick Goodson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Loyal Ladies Sunday school class of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

HORATIO ERWIN JONES SR.

Services for Horatio Erwin Jones Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Young of Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Jones died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was 74.

He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Mississippi Power & Light. He was a member of Paragon Lodge No. 7 F&AM and Wesley United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie R. Crump Jones; two sons, Stanley Jones and Charles Jones; his parents, John R. and Helen J. Wesley Jones; and three brothers, John Jones, Peter Jones and Warren Jones.

Survivors include a son, Horatio E. Jones Jr. of Vicksburg; three daughters, Helen M. Jones of New York, N.Y., Bernelle J. Wells of Jackson and Angela Jones of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Charles B. Jones of San Francisco; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

ROSIE LEE NEAL

PORT GIBSON Rosie Lee Neal died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

She was 94.

Mrs. Neal was a member of Campbell Chapel Church and a member of the Baptist Aid.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Smith of Port Gibson; two brothers, J.L. Perry of Ponnon, Calif. and Carl Lee Christian of Port Gibson; two sisters, Julia McGriggs and Betty Jean Carter, both of Port Gibson; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell Chapel Church in the Willows community in Claiborne County with the Rev. J.P. Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and from 1 until the service Saturday at the church.

ALBERT SHORT

Services for Albert Short will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at King David No. 2 M.B. Church with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Short died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at his home. He was 83.

Mr. Short was a retired railroad worker. He was a member of King David M.B. Church No. 1.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Baines Short; his parents, Douglas and Minnie B. Givens Short; and one brother, Douglas Short.

Survivors include a son, Robert C. Short of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lelia M. Short of Vicksburg and Carol A. Smith of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Willie Frank Shorter.

ERNEST WHITNEY

PORT GIBSON Ernest “Sonny Boy” Whitney died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home. He was 91.

Mr. Whitney was preceded in death by his wife, Griff Ella Walker; parents, Ben and Clara Whitney; a daughter, Dorothy Whitney; two sons, Ernest Whitney Jr. and Baby Boy Whitney.

Survivors include two sons, John L. Whitney of St. Paul, Minn. and Charles Whitney of Indianapolis, Ind.; six daughters, Rosie M. Sayles of Port Gibson, Faye Whitney, Clara Polk, Joann Jackson, Willie B. Whitney and Katie M. Whitney, all of Indianapolis; a brother, Robert Whitney of Sacramento; a sister, Mary Tarleton of Oakland, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Chapel Church in Port Gibson with T.E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson-Moore Family Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
