HARRY B. MARTIN

Harry B. Martin died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 81.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Martin was a hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in the African-Middle East Theatre of Operations. He worked for Sears for 18 years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Nettie Harris Martin, and a son, Michael Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrill Wooley Martin of Vicksburg; a son, Darryl W. Martin of Vicksburg; two sisters, Doris Martin and Dolly Moses, both of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Sharon Marshall of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Eric Martin and Heather Martin, both of Vicksburg; three step-granddaughters; two step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Jimmy Martin and Melanie Hood, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alfred Camp of Natchez officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Monday night at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be M.D. Beasley, E.B. Ray, George Maples, Ronnie Wooley, Sid Ponder and Dr. Charles Marascalco.

JOSIE L. WILLIAMS

Services for Josie L. “Grannie” Williams were at 11:30 Monday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Francis Vriesen officiating. Burial followed at the Hasseley Cemetery in West Monroe.

Mrs. Williams died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at her home. She was 90.

Mrs. Williams was born in Meadville, Miss., and lived in West Monroe, La., and Scottland, Ark., before moving to Vicksburg in 1980. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Williams; her parents, James E. and Ollie Bureek Laster; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie J. and Steve Muirhead of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Fred A. Russell and Sandra L. Erwin of Carrollton, Texas, and Josie L. Moody and Ronnie Muirhead, both of Vicksburg; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her caregiver, Louise Allison of Vicksburg; nieces; and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Brock, Stanley Myers, Jimmy Stanford, John Fuller, Mike Cogan and Elmer Nielsen.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Muirhead, Marvin Muirhead, Mike King and Dr. Lee Giffin.
