A memorial service for award-winning actress and Vicksburg native Beah Richards will be Saturday at Vicksburg Auditorium.
Richards, who returned to her hometown in May to live with niece Sherry Fisher, died at home Sept. 14. She was 80.
Fisher said the service is open to the public and will begin at 5 p.m.
Richards, who left Vicksburg after graduating from Magnolia High School, starred in “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner,” a 1960s drama starring Sidney Poitier, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, which gained her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Richards won her first Emmy for her guest appearance on the television series “Frank’s Place” and her second just last month, for a guest appearance on the ABC drama “The Practice.”
The second Emmy was presented to her at her niece’s home.
