LOUIS GORDON BRADY

Services for Louis Gordon Brady will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 Tuesday night at the funeral home.

Mr. Brady died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 83.

Mr. Brady was a retired custodian from Waterways Experiment Station. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Brown Brady; a son, Sherman Brady; a stepdaughter, Valeria Thomas; his father, Monroe Brady; his mother, Matilda Garrett; and three brothers, Allen Wilson, Arthur Garrett and Henry Brady.

He is survived by a daughter, Chuty Brady Erves of Vicksburg; a sister, Susan Lucas of Highland Park, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

SHIRLEY PECK BROOKS

Shirley Peck Brooks died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 97.

Born in Oxford, Mrs. Brooks had lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She was a homemaker and assisted at Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Railroad Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hayes Brooks, and her parents, Edward Elmore and Lettie Arletta Starner Peck.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Hunter Neubert of Nashville, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Sandra Brooks of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Lara Brooks and Hayes Brooks, both of Vicksburg, and Eugene Neubert and Chris Neubert, both of Nashville; and other relatives, including Helen Grace Johnson of Vicksburg and Ronald Robinson of Atlanta.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Bryant, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Wednesday until the service in Ward Hall at the church.

Pallbearers will be Dale McClung, Hunter Neubert, Eugene Neubert, Hayes Brooks, Bobby Mashburn and Richard Mellon.

JAMES DAVID FLOWERS SR.

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. James David Flowers Sr. died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was 50.

A native of Vicksburg, he had lived in Denham Springs, La., for a number of years. He had worked at R.L. Hall and Associates and was employed with Energy Equipment.

He was a member of Beech Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors include two sons, James David Flowers Jr. of Lebanon, Ky., and Julius Ray Flowers of Jeffersonville, Ind.; his parents, Hattie and Lester Flowers of Edwards; two sisters, Lynn Bolts of Longview, Texas, and Mary Goza of Edwards; four brothers, Wiley Flowers of Vicksburg, Ray Flowers of Utica and Bill Flowers and Darrell Flowers, both of Edwards; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Pat Hartley.

Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. Burial followed at Bethesda Cemetery in Edwards.

HELEN BLUE GREER

Helen Blue Greer died Sunday Dec. 10, 2000, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home. She was 82.

Born in Richton, Mrs. Greer had lived in Vicksburg since 1944. For the past five years, she had lived in Denham Springs, La. A retired nurse, she was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Lavetta Ann Hines of Denham Springs; a son, Lawrence Chambless of Jackson; a brother, Curtis Brewer of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
