Delia Flowers Burris
Delia Flowers Burris died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Vicksburg Convalescent Nursing Home. She was 90.
Mrs. Burris was a native of Claiborne County and lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She was a member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.
Mrs. Burris was preceded in death by her husband, Bassett Burris; her parents, Robert C. and Mary Ewell Flowers; two brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by three cousins, Lillie Mae Toler and Billy Ewell, both of Vicksburg, and Edith Compton of Jackson.
Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Hancell Bankester officiating.
Visitation will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Chrurch-Disciple of Christ building fund, 3005 Porters Chapel Road.
Robert Friley Jr.
Robert Friley Jr. died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 90.
Mr. Friley was born in Kentucky and had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 70 years. He was a retired electrician for the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mr. Friley was preceded in death by his wives, Inez Friley and Kathleen Friley.
He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Campbell and Blanch Louge, both of Lafayette, and Ileen Noble of Vicksburg; three sons, Robert Friley III, Gene Abbott and Robert Abbott, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Hattie Lide of Montgomery, Ala.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Smith officiating.
Visitation is from 2 until 4 today at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will by Raymond H. Friley, Raymond H. Friley Jr., Jim Stevens, Del Bagwell, Kent May, Joe Crow and Edward Glodjo.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association.
Bermese Robinson
Services for Bermese Robinson will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at City Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from noon until the time of the service.
Mrs. Robinson died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 81.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of Christian Home M.B. No. 2 Church and served on the mother’s board. She was a food service worker.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, Van Henry Reed and Laura Ann Eatmon; her husband, John Robinson Sr.; and a brother, Van Reed.
She is survived by two sons, Willie C. Williams of San Bernardino, Calif., John T. Robinson of Los Angeles; one stepson, Dr. Joseph Russell of Jackson; six daughters, Annie M. Jones, Laura Robinson, Ellen Robinson-Thomas and Tommie Robinson all of Vicksburg, Loutisha McReynolds of Rialto, Calif., Marion Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Mamie Smith of Fort Bragg, N.C.; a brother, Clarence Reed of Belzoni; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
