PAUL RAYMOND GEER
Paul Raymond Geer died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 84.
Mr. Geer was born in Sweetwater, Texas, and had lived in Vicksburg since 1956. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in 1975 after 33 years of service. He served as an area director and building adviser for the American Red Cross until 1982. He was a Boy Scout leader and a member of First Christian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder and multiterm board chairman.
He was a member of the MSU Alumni Association and the Bulldog Club. He was president of the Warren County Chapter and an area director and treasurer of the Bulldog Club. He received numerous awards and citations from the Corps of Engineers, Boy Scouts, American red Cross and the MSU Alumni Association and Bulldog Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Geer; and a son, Paul Raymond Geer Jr.
Survivors include four children, Michael Geer of Tulsa, Okla., Karen Recker of St. Louis, Paula Childers of Japan and Pat Allen of Duncanville, Texas; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives including Carolyn Helfer of Slidell, La., and Barbara Reeves of Carlton, Texas.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Hancell Bankester officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
