JOHNNY IVORY CLEVELAND

LOS ANGELES Johnny Ivory Cleveland died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Los Angeles. He was 91.

Mr. Cleveland was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles. He was a retired construction worker with Labor Union Local No. 300. He was a Navy veteran of World War II having served in Okinawa, Japan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Cleveland and a daughter, Jessie Cleveland.

He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Hendon of Tallulah, Lucille Bryant and Vera Cleveland, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Johnny Ivory Cleveland Jr. and James Howard Cleveland of Las Vegas; 23 grandchildren, including Michael Hendon of Vicksburg, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be Friday at Palm Chapel Mortuary in Fontana, Calif.
