Vicksburg Fire Department medical personnel, at top, help Darlene J. Blaine, 685 Redbone Road, Apt. C, onto a stretcher after her vehicle was struck from behind on Mission 66 Thursday by a vehicle driven by Golie McPhearson Jr., 215 Vicksburg St., Edwards. Both drivers were cited for failure to show proof of insurance, Vicksburg Police Lt. David Beard said. Blaine was treated and released from ParkView Regional Medical Center. In the lower photo, Vicksburg Firefighter Detriche Walker spreads a safety absorbent on the ground between two cars after they collided at Halls Ferry and North Frontage roads, also Thursday afternoon. Judith A. Allen, 54, of 108 Dogwood St., was attempting to make a left turn from the southbound lane of Halls Ferry onto North Frontage when her car was struck by one driven by Steven A. Montgomery, 34, traveling north on Halls Ferry. Montgomery was cited for failure to yield and causing an accident, Beard said. Allen was taken to ParkView, where she underwent surgery for a fractured hip. (The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN/ROB MAXWELL)
