HENRY M. HILLIARD
Henry M. Hilliard died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was 82.
A native of North Carolina, Mr. Hilliard served in the Navy during World War II. He retired in 1981 from the law enforcement branch of the National Park Service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He has no survivors.
Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
PATSY WILSON HUNT
Patsy Wilson Hunt died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the South Dallas Nursing Home in Texas. She was 83.
Mrs. Hunt was born in Claiborne County and was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She moved to Vicksburg in 1947 and was a Sunday school teacher, Usher Board member and Mother Board member at Grove Street M.B. Church. She also served in the NAACP, Head Start and PTA and ran a day care in her home for working mothers.
Mrs. Hunt moved to Dallas in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hunt; a son, John Charles; her parents, Adeline and Joseph Wilson; and five siblings.
She is survived by two sons; Joseph Hunt of Gary, Ind., and John Hunt of Vicksburg; six daughters, Charlean Cooper of Forestville, Md., Edith Scott, Ca’Lannye Jackson, Eleanor Weddington and LaLetta Ruff, all of Dallas, Texas, and Katie Darris of St. Louis, Mo.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grove Street M. B. Church with the Rev. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Grove Street M.B. Church.
DONALD SMITH
Donald Smith died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 50.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He worked for Anderson-Tully Company for 28 years. He attended Hinds Community College and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Barley and Jeanette Smith of Vicksburg; a sister, Margaret Richmond of Vicksburg; two nieces; and a nephew.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Biedenharn officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Richard Bush, John Mauk, Jimmy Brogdon, Steve May, Rogers Coffing Sr. and Mike Myrick.
