Patrolman Jamee Carter, police spokesman, said Harris was shot once in the chest and once in the arm by a woman who robbed the Direct General Insurance office, 1825 N. Frontage Road, of an undisclosed amount of money at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the shooter left the strip of small offices and businesses in a silver or gray Oldsmobile with a Claiborne tag.

Kay Edwards, owner of WAGS, the pet-grooming business next door from which police were called, said she heard two pops and that Harris came through the door moments later asking for help.

Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis said Vicksburg police Tuesday afternoon arrested a Claiborne County woman on misdemeanor charges involving a threatening letter sent to the Direct General office. He did not know if further charges against the woman were being considered.

Carter said no arrest has been made for the robbery and shooting and Detective Randy Naylor is investigating.
