THOMAS O. PREWITT JR.

JACKSON Thomas O. Prewitt Jr. died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at his home in Jackson. He was 66.

Mr. Prewitt was a former Vicksburg resident. He graduated from Carr Central High School and Millsaps College. He attended graduate school at Florida State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. T.O. and Lois Minor Prewitt; and a sister, Dorothy Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Irma B. Prewitt of Jackson; a son, Thomas O. Prewitt III of Florence; a daughter, Susan P. Martin of Brandon; a brother, Jim Prewitt of Tucker, Ga.; a sister, Ida Francis Waring of Vicksburg; and two grandsons.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson.

A.D. BOYKINS

A.D. Boykins died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at his home. He was 40.

Mr. Boykins was an employee of the City of Vicksburg Water Department. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Rosie Miller; his paternal grandmother, Lillie Ann Miller; and one brother, Joseph Boykins.

He is survived by his fiance, Myra Carson of Vicksburg; his father, Adel Miller of Vicksburg; his stepmother, Mable Miller of Vicksburg; one sister, Addie Partidge of Mayersville; six stepdaughters, La Tonya Carson, Dionne Carson, Takeia Carson, Cyra Carson, Kayla Shelton and Jennifer Shelton, all of Vicksburg; three stepsons, Phillip Carson, Caleb Carson and Jebroski Shelton, all of Vicksburg; one uncle, George Regan of Hollandale; two stepsisters, Deloris Miller and Minnie Martin, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Williams Funeral Services has charge of arrangements.

JOSEPH JEFFERSON “JEFF” MARSH

TALLULAH Joseph Jefferson “Jeff” Marsh of Sondheimer, La., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 92.

Mr. Marsh was a retired farmer in East Carroll Parish, where he lived for 58 years. He was a former board member of the Madison-East Carroll Gin Association. He was a member of Sondheimer Baptist Church, a Master Mason and a member of Pecan Grove Lodge 222 in Lake Providence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Wise Marsh; his parents, Joe and Lela Marsh; and two sisters, Annie Crawford and Ola Mae Riggs.

He is survived by five sons, Paul Jefferson Marsh and William Edward “Cooter” Marsh, both of Sondheimer, and Jimmy Lee Marsh, Larry Mack Marsh and Billy Leon Marsh, all of Tallulah; five daughters, Alice Faye Eubanks, Dorothy Mae Ainsworth, Sarah Ann Shepherd and Katherine Lucille Powers, all of Tallulah, and Betty Jo Boudreaux of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Henry Marsh of Lake Providence, Winfred Marsh of Archibald, La., and Jack Marsh of Alexandria, La.; 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Sondheimer Baptist Church. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Providence under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Grandsons were pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were H.N. Pippen and Dr. L.P. Neumann Jr.

WILLIAM ARTHUR HOWARD MARSHALL JR.

Services for William Arthur Howard Marshall Jr. were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Center with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 55.

Mr. Marshall was a retired postal worker and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Tyner-Ford Post 213 of the American Legion. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshall Sr. and Thelma Templeton Marshall; and two sisters, Jewell Marshall and Barbara M. Wince.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Brown Marshall; two sons, Gregory Williams, whose station with the U.S. Army is unknown, and William Marshall III of Vicksburg; two daughters, Heather Marshall and Meghan Marshall, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Helen M. Pilate and Marilyn M. Patterson, both of Vicksburg; one aunt, Mary Louise Gilkesson of Peoria, Ill.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

ROBERT IVAN SLAUGHTER SR.

NEWELLTON Robert Ivan Slaughter Sr. died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was 91.

Mr. Slaughter was a resident of Newellton for 78 years. He was a farmer and a heavy-equipment operator for the Louisiana Department of Highways. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He is survived by three sons, Marshall L. Slaughter of Newellton, Robert Ivan Slaughter Jr. of Newellton and Lindell Ray Slaughter of Elmendorf, Texas; seven daughters, Clarece Caughlin of Quitman, La., Lorene Elizabeth Wright of Ball, La., Ethel Yvonne Collinsworth of Lucky, La., Virginia Ruth Stevens of Bloomington, Ind., Peggy Sue Arnold of Newellton, Carol Ann Burn of Waller, Texas, and Pamela Dorene Jiles of Jonesboro, La.; one sister, Pearl Ashley of Jonesboro, La.; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. David McKeithen officiating. Burial followed at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Grandsons were pallbearers.
