JOANN COVERSON COOK

Services for Joann Coverson Cook will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with Ron Wallen officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 64.

She retired as a cook from the BPOE Elks Lodge. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Coverson, and her mother, Etta Wilkerson.

Survivors include her husband, James Cook Sr. of Vicksburg; two sons, James Cook Jr. of Vicksburg and Johnny Cook of Minneapolis; three daughters, Ora Cook and Peggy A. Cook, both of Vicksburg, and Velma Erves of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Beatrice Jones of Vicksburg.

THOMAS S. GOFF

PATTISON Thomas S. Goff died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 74.

A native of Bolivar, Tenn., Mr. Goff lived in Pattison most of his life. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He was employed with Port Gibson Veneer and Box Co. for 20 years and retired from LeTourneau in 1986 after 15 years of service. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel L. Goff of Pattison; two sons, Michael Goff of Bude and Lynn Goff of Pattison; two daughters, Linda Couch of Vicksburg and Karen Hampton of Pattison; his brother, Ernest Goff of Port Gibson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Sue Irby of Pattison.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mickey Goff, Kelly Hampton, David Oakes, Brian Patterson, Paul Bowers, Kevin Cloud and Bobby Truelove.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Goff, Richard Goff, Dr. David Headley, Raul White, Sam Earl Sorrels, Pam Weatherly and Robin Purvis.

THOMAS ALLEN GROSS JR.

Thomas Allen “Mane” Gross Jr. died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 44.

A 1975 graduate of Vicksburg High School, Mr. Gross was a 1977 graduate of Hinds Community College and attended Knoxville College. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves at the 412th Engineer Command. he was a supervisor at Tyson Foods and a member of Mercy Seat M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Allen Gross Sr.; his mother, Charlene Peace Gross; his maternal grandparents, Armstead and Josie Mae Wallace; paternal grandparents, Harrison and Mattie Chambers Gross.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Yates Gross; three daughters, Lashon S. Gross, Kristy D. Gross and Bridgette B. Gross, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Marian D. Brown, Mattie L. Lacey, Shirley A. Smith and Tammy D. Jones, all of Vicksburg; his paternal stepgrandmother, Julia Mae Gross of Vicksburg; and his grandson, Tyreek Anthony Gross of Vicksburg.

LLOYD GAINES HARMON

GRETNA, La. Lloyd Gaines Harmon died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his home in Gretna. He was 69.

A former resident of Tallulah, Mr. Harmon had lived in Gretna for the past 19 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ruppert Harmon and Faye Watts Harmon; and James L. Harmon.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lama Harmon, formerly of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lisa Matthews of Champaign, Ill., and Stacie Harmon of Gretna; two sons, Bryan K. Harmon of Baton Rouge and Maurice G. Harmon of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Stanley Harmon and C.R. Harmon, both of Tallulah; three grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Naval Support Activity Chapel in Algiers, La. Burial will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey, La., and from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the Naval Support Activity Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

JIMMY RAY WALDROP

TALLULAH Jimmy Ray Waldrop died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 72.

Born in Sikes, La., Mr. Waldrop lived in Tallulah for more than 30 years. He retired from Louisiana Power and Light in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tallulah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Sue Stacks Waldrop; his parents, Dewey and Elizabeth Waldrop; two brothers, J.T. Waldrop and Clyde Waldrop; and his stepmother, Minnie Waldrop.

Survivors include his son, Allen Ray Waldrop of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Sherida Lester of Delhi, Patrice Waldrop of New Orleans, Angela Goad of Hot Springs, Ark., and Marsha Schmidt of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Darrell Waldrop, Donny Waldrop and Coy Waldrop; seven sisters, Ruth Pauley, Edith Brewer, Beryl Lynn Hall, Jo Ann Rogers, Glenda Harris, Sandra Fuller and Hilda Lisenby; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Ann Coody.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Tatum, Dub Sumner, John Howard, Frank House, Howard Evans, Don Dawson, Wendell Robbins and Mike Williams.
