REV. JAMES BRETT

MERIDIAN The Rev. James Brett died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at King’s Daughters and Sons Rest Home in Meridian. He was 82.

Rev. Brett was ordained at Mayne Park, Tuam, Ireland, in 1944 and moved to Mississippi in 1945. He served as a priest in Natchez, Greenville, Oxford, Shelby, Yazoo City, Meridian and at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vicksburg.

He retired in 1970 and lived in Vicksburg until 1991, when he moved to Meridian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Brett; and two brothers, Patrick Brett and J.D. Brett.

Survivors include a brother, Frank Brett of Mayo, Ireland, and three nephews, Joseph Brett, Allen Brett and Patrick Brett.

Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church in Meridian. Burial will be at Mayo Abbey church cemetery in Ireland.

ELIZABETH ROSE WEBB

CANTON Elizabeth Rose Webb died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. She was 62.

Mrs. Webb was born in Vicksburg and had lived in Canton for 38 years. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, RCIA sponsor and religion teacher. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society and visited Saltillo, Mexico, on a number of mission trips. She was in the Cursillo movement and served with the Kairos prison ministry.

Mrs. Webb served as treasurer of the Junior Auxiliary of Canton, secretary of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Capt. Samuel J. Ridley Chapter No. 2430 and secretary-treasurer of the MESC North Jackson Ladies Luncheon Club. She had served as a poll worker and Resolution Board member with the Madison County Election Committee.

She had worked with the VAST mentoring program and was a member of the Vicksburg Art Association and International Association of Personnel and Employment Security. She also served as Girls Scout leader for Troop 279.

Survivors include a son, Robert Alan Webb Jr. of Canton; three daughters, Robin Webb Tonos, Rosie Webb Smith and Valerie Webb Henry, all of Madison; two brothers, Joe Setaro of Knoxville, Tenn., and Danny Setaro of Chalfont, Pa.; a sister, Andrea Woodrick of Vicksburg; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection was at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were W.E. Harreld, W.K. Pace, Nicky Kirby, Hugh Edwards, Q. Street and Luther Turbeville.
