FLORENCE EDNA STEVENS HILE

Services for Florence Edna Stevens Hile will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Brian Ivy officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hile died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home in Hollister. She was 80.

Mrs. Hile was born in Anguilla. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Sandifer Stevens; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Love of Davis, Calif., and Butch Hile of Lenexa, Kan.; two daughters, Gay Moore of Vicksburg and Marian Hile of Hollister; two sisters, Dora Templeton and June Davis, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Sonny Stevens and Gordon Stevens, both of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CORINE W. KAUFMAN

PORT GIBSON Corine W. Kaufman died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 83.

Mrs. Kaufman was a member, secretary, mother, and president of the choir at Mountro Grove Baptist Church. She was a teacher and principal in the Claiborne County school system for 45 years. She was a member of the Port Herron Chapter Order of Eastern Star and of the Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Kaufman was preceded in death by her parents, William Washington Sr. and Mattie Hopkins Washington; and a brother, George Washington.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest “Cat” Kaufman of Port Gibson; a sister, Annie L. Washington of Jackson; five nieces; one nephew; a number of great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountro Grove Cemetery in Hermanville, Miss.

Visitation will be Monday from 1 until 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

IRENE J. KITSINGER

PORT GIBSON Irene J. Kitsinger died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at her daughter-in-law’s home in Florence. She was 81.

Mrs. Kitsinger was a native of Claiborne County and lifelong resident of Port Gibson. She graduated with honors from Morehead Junior College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Gage Insurance and later worked for Kling Brothers Construction Co. for several years before retiring 15 years ago. She was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.

Mrs. Kitsinger was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Kitsinger; and her son, James Benton Kitsinger.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Kitsinger of Florence; two granddaughters, Wanda I. Armstrong of Pearl and Cynthia K. Pruitt of Florence; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Chapel in Port Gibson. Burial will follow in the Vicksburg National Military Park Cemetery.

JOSEPHINE SAM

Josephine Sam died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 83.

Miss Sam was a native of Meridian and had been a resident of Vicksburg for 73 years. She was the daughter of the late Abe M. and Carrie Sadka Sam. Miss Sam was a sales clerk for Abraham Department Store on Vicksburg for several years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sam; and a brother, Bill Sam.

She is survived by her cousins, Rosalie Thomas and Lee Thomas, both of Vicksburg, and Dewey Sadka of Meridian; and numerous other relatives.

Services for Miss Sam were at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Trisagion Prayers at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Hovious, Bob Hovious, Paul Boolos, Gregory Thomas, Bill Sadka, Richard Thomas and Johnny Nassour.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Gerache, Leo Boolos, Albert Moses, Mike Moses, Richard Marcus, Dr. George Abraham, Charles Abraham and Lee Thomas.
