ELOISE WHITFIELD DELANEY

Eloise Whitfield Delaney died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in Greer, S.C. She was 92.

Mrs. Delaney was a native of Picayune, Miss., and a former Vicksburg resident.

She retired from the Street Clinic in 1980.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ozella Whitfield; and her husband, James W. Delaney.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; James W. and Ann W. Delaney of Greer; a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and James Bayne of Greer; a brother, Marvin Whitfield of Tallulah; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Ryland Bayne.

Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor of United Methodist Church, officiating.

ESTHER H. GRODOWITZ

Esther H. Grodowitz died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Grodowitz was a native of New York and had lived in Vicksburg for the past nine years.

She was employed as a nurse in Middlesex County, N.J., for several years.

Mrs. Grodowitz was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grodowitz; her parents, Albert and Susan Mizrahi Hobesh; two brothers, Issac Hobesh and David Hobesh; and a sister, Laura Hobesh.

She is survived by her son, Michael Grodowitz of Vicksburg; a daughter, Susan Ray of Galena, Ill.; a brother, Joseph Hobesh of Lafayette, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Eric Ray of Galena and Nathan Grodowitz and Chara Grodowitz, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 5 today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care Foundation Inc., 1017 Jackson St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

ERNESTINE F. HERRING

Ernestine F. Herring died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 82.

Mrs. Herring was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Herring; five brothers; and two sisters.

Mrs. Herring is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Watson of Arcadia, Calif.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bryan Ivey officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dan Tipton, Dwain Cotton, Don Huston, Gordon Stevens, Joe O’Quinn and James Tuttle.
