VICTORIA ESTELLA RIDER KLINE
LANSING, Mich. Victoria Estella Rider Kline died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing. She was 63.
Mrs. Kline was a former member of St. Mark M.B. Church in Vicksburg, serving on the Usher Board. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie George Kline; two daughters, Debrah Tolliver and Gwendolyn Coleman; a brother, Robert Rider; and her parents, William and Ezell Rider.
She is survived by one son, George Eddie Kline of Lansing; three daughters, Lee Ester Davis of Detroit, Sonya Coleman of Lansing and Ezell McDonald of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Diane Hawkins, Rosie Richardson and Ora Loring; a stepson, Jessie Kline; three sisters, Lizzie Potts of Vicksburg, Georgia Carson of Lansing and Ida Rider of Albion, Mich.; one brother, William Rider of Vicksburg; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and other relatives including members of the Terry, Butler and Stewart families.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Tiffany’s Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, in Lansing.
SUMATRA DARLENE SIMPSON
Sumatra Darlene Simpson died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 38.
Born in Vicksburg, Miss Simpson lived in Los Angeles for a number of years. She was a graduate of Freemont High School in Los Angeles.
She was employed at the Isle of Capri Casino and was a member of Clover Valley M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Simpson; a daughter, LaKeisha Scott; a brother, Benard Simpson; and her maternal grandparents, Emma and Ambus Wallace.
Survivors include a son, Evrette Scott Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Latrice Simpson and Evette Keonna Scott, both of Vicksburg; her father, Bennie George Simpson of Chicago; aunts; uncles; and other relatives including Anthony Woodland of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
ROBERT RASHAD THOMAS
Services for Robert Rashad Thomas, infant son of Briggette “Nikki” Thomas of Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Robert died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Andrew Thomas and De’Andre Thomas, both of Vicksburg; his maternal grandparents, Charles E. and Cheryl White Sr. of Vicksburg; his maternal great-grandmother, Ann Davis of Memphis; his great-great-grandparents, Loubertha Chiles and Nellie and Ed Griffin, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Ray Brown, Janie Haggard, Salous Bradley and members of the Davis, Chiles, Neal, Thomas, Winger and Carter families.
NEVA W. WATSON
Neva W. Watson died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 76.
Mrs. Watson was born in Sallis and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Watson.
She is survived by a daughter, Nan Katherine Lundin of Algonquin, Ill.; and two sisters, Johnnie Wood of Columbia, S.C., and Helen Ragsdale of Hopkins, S.C.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Frank Merchant, Wayne Merchant, Tony Stanford, Alex Stanford, Roy “Butch” Campbell Jr. and Dean Case.
