Lady Flashes play Franklin for division title Tuesday night

[04/10/01] Laura Beth Lyons struck out 11 and Leslie Dyess hit a home run as St. Aloysius scored seven runs in the final two innings to beat Morton, 9-4, on Monday.
The win assured St. Al (11-4, 8-1 in division) of a playoff berth and set up a showdown with Franklin County for the division championship. The teams meet Tuesday at 5 at Warren Central. Franklin beat the Lady Flashes in their first meeting.
Kelli Haden had three RBIs and Keiko Booth had an RBI single for St. Al. Dyess set the tone for the three-run sixth with a leadoff homer. The Lady Flashes tacked on four more in the seventh.
Lyons hit an RBI triple, then stole home in the fourth to make it 2-0. St. Al led 2-1 going into the sixth.
For Morton, Tara Hughes struck out nine, walked 11 and hit seven while allowing six hits. Lyons walked eight and allowed six hits.
WC 13, Jim Hill 3
Eighth-grader Lauren Anderson struck out 12 and allowed two hits in five innings as Warren Central whipped Jim Hill.
Betsy Bryan pitched the sixth and final inning. Ashley Van Zant hit a two-run double in the sixth to push the lead to 10 and end it on the mercy rule. Hayley Martin had two hits, including an RBI single, and Marilyn Landers and Katie Barnett also drove in runs.
Coach Lucy Young said she got to use 20 players.

Kala White had three hits, including two doubles, as Porters Chapel Academy blasted Covenant Christian in slow-pitch. Ashley Brown and Chistie McAllister had three RBIs apiece while Candy Thames and Lindsey McCool both drove in two runs on three hits. Brown had a triple while McAllister, Thames and McCool all doubled..
