ALMA PAULINE JONES

MIZE Alma Pauline Jones died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 88.

Born in Smith County, Mrs. Jones was a resident of Mize. She and her husband owned and operated a rural grocery store in Magee for several years. She was a member of Pleasant Home Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jones; a son, Robbie Nelson; her parents, Homer Nelson Craft and Fronnie Eubanks Craft; and two sisters, Mamie Clark and Ruby West.

She is survived by two daughters, Ella Ree Magee of Brandon and Pat Lang of Vicksburg; her brother, Lonnie Craft of Cantonment, Fla.; two sisters, Casceal Taylor of Raymond and Mildred Kowatch of Mize; and seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mims Mitchell Funeral Home in Magee. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ROOSEVELT FORD JR.

Roosevelt Ford Jr. died Friday, April 26, 2002, at his home. He was 72.

Mr. Ford was a retired custodian with LeTourneau. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Ford Sr. and Lucinda Calley Ford.

He is survived by his caregivers, Isiah Henderson and Jeffery Clark, both of Vicksburg; his goddaughter, Judy Johnson of Inglewood, Calif.; three godsons; and other relatives and friends, including Thelma Hubbard and Beatrice Hubbard, both of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

GEORGE McPHERSON

COLUMBUS George McPherson died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. He was 71.

Born in Monroe, Mr. McPherson was a former resident of Vicksburg and Gulfport. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Bishop McPherson; and a brother, Edwin Elmore Riley McPherson.

He is survived by two sons, George Randall McPherson of Greenville and Robert Lee McPherson of Union; his daughter, Sherrill Ann McAlpin of Columbus; his brother, John Melvin McPherson of Delhi; two sisters, Geraldine Adelle Goodner of Cabool, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church in Neshoba County. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia.

BETTY WESTMORELAND WILLIAMSON

TALLULAH Betty Westmoreland Williamson died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 79.

Mrs. Williamson was born in Ida, La., and had lived in Tallulah for 55 years. She was a retied secretary and bookkeeper for the Madison Parish School Board. She was a member of the Tallulah Home Gardeners Garden Club and First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cordes E. Williamson; and her daughter, Virginia Claire Williamson Brown.

She is survived by four granddaughters, Sheri Brown Morgan, Julie Brown McBroom and Cindy Brown Hargrave, all of Tallulah, and Christy Brown Humble of Monroe; her nephew, C.L. Keene of Tallulah; and other relatives, including Mary Kathryn Brook, Meg Keene and C.W. Keene.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be Fred C. Morgan, Clay Morgan, James R. Brown, Wade Hargrave, Michael Todd McBroom, Robert Q. Humble Jr., C.L. Keene and C.W. Keene.
