FANNIE LEE BOYD DAVENPORT

Services for Fannie Lee Boyd Davenport will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Davenport died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 71.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Willie B. Boyd, and five brothers, Alfred Boyd, George Boyd, Narvel Boyd, James Boyd and Chester Boyd.

She is survived by four sons, Willie Boyd, Johnny Davenport, Larry Davenport and George Young, all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Gloria Jordan of New York; three brothers, Johnny Boyd, Aubrey Boyd and Arthur Boyd; nieces; nephews; and cousins and other relatives, including members of the Taylor and Watson families of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

LOIS STREET FERRIS

Memorial services for Lois Street Ferris were today at Church of the Holy Trinity with the Rev. Michael Nations, rector, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferris died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at her home, Buena Vista. She was 79.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lucian M. Ferris Sr.; her parents, Dr. George McQueen and Lois Embree Street; her granddaughter, Noelle Ferris; and her niece, Marilyn Eustis.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Anne Ferris of Vicksburg; two sons, Lucian Minor Ferris and George McQueen “Mac” Ferris, both of Vicksburg, her sisters, Pauline Street Eustis of Metairie, La.; and nieces and nephews.

LEROY KIMBLE SR.

Leroy Kimble Sr. died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 69.

A veteran of the Army, Mr. Kimble was retired with Bunge Corporation. He was a member of Mount Zion No. 1 M.B. Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Kimble Jr.; and his parents, James Kimble and Elizabeth Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kimble of Vicksburg; two sons, Michael A. Kimble of Fort Knox, Ky., and Troy Kimble of Jackson; four daughters, Mary Stephens of Longview, Texas, Debbie Anderson of Athens, Ga., and Elizabeth Kimble and Geraldine Kimble, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Katie Kimble of Jackson, Jimmie Burrell of Oakland, Calif., and Marie Phelps of Vicksburg; and two stepbrothers, five stepsisters, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

OPAL MIZELL RAWORTH

JACKSON Opal Mizell Raworth died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at her home in Jackson. She was 90.

A former resident of St. Joseph, Mrs. Raworth was a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in St. Joseph and the Tensas Garden Club, the Cosmopolitan Club and the Wesley Chapter of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by two sons, George E. Raworth of Jackson and Claude A. Raworth of Dallas, Texas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Kibbie Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Pallbearers will be Cole Blanche, Carter Webb, William Wade Watson, Phil Smith, Greg Seale and Ron Harvel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Lewis, Phil Watson, Freddy Freeman, Jack Grace, Ben Watson, the Rev. Tom Wade and Ritchie Blanche.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.

FANNIE MAE SCARBER

Fannie Mae Scarber died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 86.

A native of Evergreen, Ala., Mrs. Scarber had lived in Valley Park for 64 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Goodman Methodist Church in Cary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Henry Scarber; a daughter, Marceline Self; her parents, James Emanuel and Lula Frances Stokes Braxton; three brothers, Wilford Braxton, Lee Braxton and Rennie Lee Braxton.

She is survived by her son, Aubrey Scarber of Vicksburg; her daughter, Judy Sanders of Vicksburg; her brother, Luther Braxton of Vicksburg; her sister, Marjorie Boler of Vicksburg; two grandsons, Sam Scarber and Chuck Sanders; and one great-grandson, Hayden Scarber.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Boler Sr., Joseph Boler Jr., James Pace Boler, Daniel Boler, Lynn Braxton, Jimmy Braxton, Bobby Braxton and Tracy Braxton.
