MACK LEE ANDERSON SR.
EDWARDS – Mack Lee Anderson Sr. died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.
Mr. Anderson, an Edwards resident, was self-employed.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ratliff Chapel M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Vicksburg and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
CHARLES MARTELLE COKER
EDEN – Charles Martelle Coker died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City. He was 88.
Mr. Coker was born in Eden and attended Eden, Benton Agricultural High School, Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State College. He was the son of Nina Mann and Charles M. Coker M.D.
He farmed and was employed at Mississippi Chemical Corporation for more than 32 years. A Methodist, he served as alderman of Eden for many years. He also gardened and played bridge.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lena North Coker.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine Coker and Dick Peterson of Vicksburg and Dee Coker and Frank Webb of Yazoo City; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. Jr. and Sue Coker of Jackson; and eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Chapel of the Cross Cemetery in Madison County.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Cartwright, Drew McDowell, Truett Duncan, Camp King and grandsons John Peterson, Will Peterson and Charles M. Coker III.

LUE BERTHA JONES
INDIANOLA – Lue Bertha Jones died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, in Yazoo City. She was 64.
Mrs. Jones was a resident of Indianola.
She is survived by two daughters, Criseta Armetta Jones of Indianapolis, Ind., and Wanda Renita Jones of Dallas; six brothers, Ellis Burks, Alonzo Burks, Phillip Burks and Melvin Burks, all of Edwards, Charles Burks of Vicksburg and Steve Burks of Chicago; six sisters, Narbell Burks Clark and Florence Burks Prentiss, both of Clarksdale, Mary Burks Dodd of Yazoo City, Shirley A. Burks of Indianola, Golena Parker of Chicago and Venetta Burks Taylor of Kathleen, Ga.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bell Grove M.B. Church in Indianola with the Rev. David Matthews officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Henry Cemetery in Edwards.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home in Indianola.
VELMA HARPER McVAY
DELHI – Velma Harper McVay died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. She was 86.
Mrs. McVay was born in Crowville, La., to Gordon and Etta Davis Harper. She was a longtime resident of Delhi before moving to Monroe three years ago. She was a retired dietary supervisor with the Richland Parish Hospitals in Rayville and Delhi. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Delhi.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Williams of Monroe and Wanda Raley of Epps, La.; a brother, Douglas Harper of Springhill, La.; five grandchildren, including Cindy Smith of Vicksburg; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Chapel in Delhi with the Rev. Pat Loftin officiating. Burial will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery in Crowville.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
JOHNNY E. REAVES
Services for Johnny E. “Buddy” Reaves will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Lescallette, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Friday until the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Reaves died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.
Mr. Reaves was born in Cleveland, Miss., to the late John Wesley and Georgie Annie McClellard Reaves. He had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He worked as a messenger for Western Union and was employed by the Corps of Engineers for a number of years. He was an honorary deputy sheriff for 30 years.
Mr. Reaves was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Smith and Myrtle Bliss.
Survivors include a sister, Dixie R. Justice of Vicksburg; four nieces, Dixie Bliss McMullen of Vicksburg, Jackie J. Nicola of Florida, Dorothy Bonnette of Little Rock and Gan Hollingsworth of Pascagoula; and two nephews, Joe Frank Justice of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Allen Bliss Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.
Pallbearers will be members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
KAYLEE NICHOLE STEVENS
Kaylee Nichole Stevens died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 7.
Kaylee was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg.
She is survived by her parents, Jamie and Angel Stevens of Vicksburg; a sister, Abigayle Stevens of Vicksburg; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Karen Hubbard of Edwards; her paternal grandmother, Tamara Stevens of Vicksburg; her paternal grandfather, Ricky Stevens of Newport News, Va.; maternal great-grandmother, May O’Conner of Wickenberg, Ariz.; and her paternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Velma Stevens of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Neil Stewart and James Nakim officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Hinds County.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Baker, Joel Hubbard, Rodney Hubbard and Jerry Powell.
LEE JAMES WALKER SR.
Lee James Walker Sr. died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 96.
Mr. Walker was retired from LeTourneau. He was a member and deacon at Morning Star M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzetti Williams Walker; a son, Willie George Walker; a brother, Ned Walker; a sister, Willimena Walker; and his parents, Eddie Walker and Selena Cosey.
Survivors include a son, Earnest Lee James Walker; three daughters, Debbie G. Hawkins and Pamela DeFrance, both of Vicksburg, and Clarone Pettis of Memphis; two brothers, Eugene Walker and Clarence Walker, both of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
