CHARLES HAYES KING III

HAZLEHURST Charles Hayes King III died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Hazlehurst. He was 52.

Mr. King was born in Vicksburg and educated in Florida before receiving his master of arts degree in art from Mississippi College. He served two tours in Vietnam as a medical clerk and was cited for meritorious service. He also operated a pottery shop in Yokena.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. King II; a brother, David King; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Owens.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Orlik King of Hazlehurst; his son, Charles H. King IV of Jackson; his mother, Josephine O. King of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two sisters, Aren Williams of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Merilyn Grace of Hazlehurst; his stepdaughter, Ashley Orlik of Hazlehurst.

Services were June 21 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Wesson.

LOUISE T. MERIDETH

Louise T. Merideth died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 74.

Born in Savannah, Tenn., Mrs. Merideth had lived in Vicksburg since 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Merideth Jr.; her father, Arthur Tucker; and a brother, Bill Tucker.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Merideth of Pearl; Terry Merideth of Vicksburg and Jack Merideth of Livermore, Calif.; three daughters, Debbie Merideth Lasley of Richland, Barbara Lawson of Houston, Texas, and Elizabeth Irwin of Memphis; her mother, Ora Tucker of Plant City, Fla.; a brother, Robert Tucker of Plant City; a sister, Beatrice Hinton of Portaceville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Artie Fisher, Charlie Fisher, Albert Fisher, Merle Leist, Loretta Yates and Sid Ponder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Vickers, Whitney Dorin, Susana Corley and Willie Gross.
