MARTHA JULIA POLLARD

OAK GROVE Martha Julia Pollard died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, in Rowlett, Texas. She was 92.

Mrs. Pollard was born in Haynes, Ark., and was a resident of Sherman, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy E. Pollard; her parents, James F. and Laura Ophelia Thompson; and three brothers, James Thompson, Hubert Thompson and Ernest Thompson.

She is survived by a son, Charles Pollard of Rockwall, Texas; a brother, Robert Thompson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Gerry Anderson of Denison, Texas; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doug McIntosh, Lavelle Brown, Pete Collins, Gary Bennett, John Mercer and Jackie Pollard.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. C. Russ Greer, Claxton Wactor and Marvin Lipp.

WALLACE A. RANDALL

Wallace A. Randall died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 72.

Born in Bolivar County, Mr. Randall moved with his family to Amite County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1949. He retired in 1994 as a vice president of First National Bank after 38 1/2 years.

He was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Oliver and Vander Elizabeth Harrell Randall, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Randall of Vicksburg; a daughter, Jeanne Wilke of St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Michael Randall of Pearl, Neil Randall of Brandon and Marty Randall of Baton Rouge; one sister, Esther Smith of Texarkana, Texas; two brothers, Allen Randall of Gulfport and Dave Randall of Wichita Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Harold Blue, John Oakes, Ronnie Herrod, Joe Schmitt, Mark Buys, Daniel Buckley, James E. Stirgus Jr. and Dr. James Valentine.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lesta Lee, John Black Jr., Kirk Hughes, Chad Winkler, James McGee, B.C. Smithhart and Johnny Puckett.

HENRY CHARLES MAJOR

Services for Henry Charles Major will be at 11 a.m. at Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. James Buck officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be all day Tuesday in the funeral home chapel and on Wednesday until the hour of service.

Mr. Major died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

He was a native of Jonesville, La. A veteran of the Army, he served in World War II. He retired in 1981 as a pipefitter for the Vicksburg Water and Gas Department after 35 years of service. He was a member of Sunshine Lodge No. 99 and he was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Green Major; four sons, Charles Donnell Major, Tony Earl Major and Darren Maurice Major, all of Vicksburg, and Terry Lorenzo Major of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Angela Denise Hampton of Port Gibson and Debra Ann Carmichael of Orlando; and seven grandchildren and other relatives.
