McCOMB Charles Carstafhnur died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 46.

Mr. Carstafhnur is survived by a sister, Janice Carstafhnur of Vicksburg.

MARY MARGARET PEARCE JACKSON

Services for Mary Margaret “Maggie” Pearce Jackson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas McGing, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jackson died Friday, March 15, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident. She was 39.

She was born in Glendale, Calif., and lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She attended Warren Central High School and served as assistant manager of Rite Aid Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Dewey Pearce; a sister, Mary Frances Pearce; a grandson, John Cotter; and her grandfather, Murray Young Farrar.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two daughters, Christina Cotter and Marianne Thomas, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Margaret Frances Pearce of Vicksburg; two sisters, Stephanie Pearce Slusasz of Jackson and Laura Ann Tuttle of Meridian; a brother, Donald Dewey Pearce Jr. of Vicksburg; two granddaughters, Kaylea Johnson of Longview, Texas, and Alexus Cotter of Vicksburg; her maternal grandmother, Mary Frances Farrar of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Howard Ettinger, Mark Ettinger, Daniel Ettinger, Tim Hynum, Jeff Abernathy, Joseph Farrar and Gene Thomas.

MARY JOY McCARTHY

GULF BREEZE, Fla. Mary Joy McCarthy died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at her home. She was 61.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. McCarthy lived in Palatine, Ill., for several years where she and her husband owned and operated ChemRep Inc. She was secretary-treasurer for the business until retiring 10 years ago and moving to Gulf Breeze.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael McCarthy; and her father, Vincent Canizaro.

She is survived by her husband, James J. McCarthy of Gulf Breeze; her daughter, Jill McCarthy Greer of Memphis; her mother, Mary Canizaro of Vicksburg; her brother, V.J. Canizaro of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Services were today at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 2001 N. Palafoz St., Pensacola, Fla. 32501, or to a favorite charity.

FLORINE B. WILLIAMS

Services for Florine B. Williams will be at noon Tuesday at Rose Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Weathersby officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 80.

She was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Williams Sr.; her parents, Alexander Judge and Bertha Scott Burns; two daughters, Birda Williams and Brenda Williams; her stepmother, Rosa Coleman Burns; and four sisters, Mabel Glover, Nellie Preacely, Lottie Fuller and Savannah McCorkle.

She is survived by four sons, Alex Tolliver, Bobby Williams and John Williams, all of Vicksburg, and Lonnie Williams Jr. of Natchez; three daughters, Rosa Carter and Gloria Smith, both of Vicksburg, and Ella Thomas of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, the Revs. Alex Burns of Monroe and Richard Burns of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
