HELEN BOUIE
GRETNA, La. Helen “Maxine” Bouie died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at University Medical Center. She was 52.
Born in Fitler, Mrs. Bouie had lived in Gretna, La., for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Lillian Brown; and a sister, Sallie Mae Cole.
Survivors include Martin Lombard; five daughters, Dedre Bouie, Leta Bouie, Lakyil Bouie, Jenika Bouie and Lanika Bouie, all of Vicksburg; her son, Terrance Bouie of Gretna; 11 sisters, Ruby Ford of Marrero, La., Bettye Meriwether and Gloria Bouie, both of Sacramento, Calif., Ida Miller, Jo Ann McGee and Lillian Jones, all of Vicksburg, Juanita Dilbert and Barbara Stark of New Orleans, Gwen Bouie of Portland, Ore., Bessie Mae Jones of Belzoni and Theola Lindsey of Cary; three brothers, Leroy Green of New Orleans, Michael Bouie of Atlanta and Nathaniel Brown Jr. of Belzoni; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at White Chapel Baptist Church in Harvey, La. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Gretna under the direction of Davis Mortuary Funeral Home
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.
HILDAH P. JORDAN
Hildah P. Jordan died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 93.
Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Vicksburg Chapter of the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, German Eubank Jordan; her parents, Albert L. and Agnes L. Powell; two sisters, Dana P. Dunn and Mary P. Stinson.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, German and Judy Jordan of Vicksburg; a granddaughter, Ashley Jordan Reder of Houston, Texas; a grandson, German Eubank “Bank” Jordan III of Houston; and a great-granddaughter, Ann Florian Reder of Houston.
Private services will be in Winchester, Va.
Memorials may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity, 900 South St., Vicksburg, Miss. 39180; the American Red Cross; or a favorite charity.
EMMER FISHER LACEY
Emmer Fisher Lacey died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 85.
Mrs. Lacey was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church at Eagle Lake where she was a mother. She was also a member of the Mount Alban Union Burial Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eligah Lacey; two sons, Willie Slater Jr. and Roosevelt Slater; her parents, Hampton Fisher and Freddie Gray; and her sister, Evelyn Smith.
She is survived by five sons, Robert Slater of Harvey, Ill., Leroy Slater of Bellwood, Ill., Johnny Slater of Los Angeles, and Sylvester Lacey and Luster Lacey, both of Vicksburg; four daughters, Annie L. Slaughter, Katherine Brooks, Dorothy Brewer and Everlena Parnell, all of Vicksburg; 32 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Cornelius Miller of San Diego and Robert Smith Sr. of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
LENA RUSSELL MANLEY
Lena Russell Manley died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 84.
A native of Taylorsville, Mrs. Manley has lived in Vicksburg for 65 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death her husband, John E. Russell; her parents, James Albert and Eula Jane Martin Jordon; five brothers, Walter Jordan, Dallas Jordan, James Jordan, Jerald Jordan and James T. Phillips; and a sister, Mae Jordan Cooper.
Survivors include her son, John R. Russell of Vicksburg; two brothers, Delton Jordan of Bastrop, La., and Donald Jordan of Arkansas; four sisters, Molly Schuehardt and Charlene Scott, both of Carthage, Texas, Sue Roy of Hemet, Calif., and Winnie Frame of Terrell, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Vriesen officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bud Shiers, Marty Dement, Mark Dement, Keith Hunt, Gerald Palmer and Mike Curtis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Dulaney, Tim Russell, Bill Tennant, Wayne Vandevender, Monty Dement, Randal Jordan, Marce Landers, Charles Jordan, Tim Burrough and Clifton Thornell.
MARIE PERKINS
Services for Marie “Pinky” Perkins were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Miss Perkins died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 85.
Miss Perkins was a homemaker and member of King David Baptist Church. She was also a member of Household of Ruth.
She is survived by four nephews, Rufus Johnson of Eatontown, N.J., and Dexter Lewis, Harvey Lewis and Ed Lewis Jr., all of Vicksburg; and a godson, Medgar Scott of Atlanta.
