John Houston Fagan

FAIRFIELD BAY, Ark. John Houston Fagan died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Port Gibson. He was 78.

Born in Lake Charles, La., Mr. Fagan served in the Navy as a Naval air cadet and CASU member during World War II. He attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.

He worked in sales for International Harvester Corp. and Mack Truck in Ottumwa, Iowa; Kennewick, Wash.; and Portland, Ore. He also owned an automobile dealership in Ottumwa and a trucking firm in Portland before retiring to Fairfield Bay, Ark., in 1992. He was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Mr. Fagan was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lynne Fagan; and his parents, Otho and Bessie Tyrone Fagan.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Anderson Fagan of Fairfield Bay; one son, Dr. John David Fagan of Port Gibson; two daughters, Mary Fagan of Fairfield Bay and Shirley Roggen of Portland; a brother, Joseph Conrad Fagan of Bassfield, Miss.; three sisters, Julia Lanell Burkett of Bassfield, Margaret Allice Schneller of Metairie, La., and Mary H. Johnson of Slidell, La.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A service was held May 31 at Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, Ark. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, followed by a reception at 4 at the home of Shirley and Dennis Roggen.

Jimmie George Stark

TALLULAH Services for Jimmie George Stark will be at 2 p.m. today at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah with Brother John Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Mr. Stark died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 65.

A native of Coffeeville, Miss., Mr. Stark had lived in Tallulah for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tallulah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Yeates and Mr. and Mrs. George G. Stark.

Survivors include three sisters, Betty Stark Norris of Tallulah, Nancilee Yeates Bodine of Long Beach, Miss., and Catherine Yeates Sloan of St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, Bill R. Stark of Lufkin, Texas, and Larry Stark of Campti, La.; and two aunts, Minnie Lee Summerville and Bessie Campbell, both of Campti.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Sevier, Donald Collins, Bill Ziegler, Tommy Ervin, Cyndi Phillips and Maranath Norris.
