Brandon R. Bonds
CARY Brandon R. Bonds died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at his home in Cary. He was 17.
Mr. Bonds lived most of his life in Cary. He was a member of the football team at Sharkey-Issaquena Academy and attended First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork.
Survivors include his parents, Tad and Mary Ellen Bonds of Cary; a brother, Jimmy Lee Bonds of Cary; his paternal grandparents, Sammy and Margaret Bonds of Cary and Hershel and Carolyn Cockrell of Marshall, Texas; his maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Gloria Herman of Grace, Miss.; and his paternal great-grandparents, J.J. and Mary Bonds of Etta, Miss.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cary Baptist Church with the Revs. Millard L. Caulder, Reese Kyzar and Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Martha C. Johnson
Martha C. Johnson died today, Nov. 21, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.
A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis H. Johnson Sr.; a son, Dennis H. Johnson Jr.; and her parents, Monroe and Jeanette Clark Reese.
Survivors include a son, Robert Earl “Bobby” Johnson of Vicksburg; three daughters, Jeanetta J. McCoy, Clara J. James and Malinda A. Johnson, all of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Dexter E. Lewis
Services for Dexter E. Lewis will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church in Bovina. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 until 6 tonight at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
Mr. Lewis died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.
A veteran of the Air Force, Mr. Lewis worked for Anderson-Tully Co. for more than 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Harvey Lewis and Ida Lewis.
He is survived by a son, Lemond Williams of Vicksburg; a daughter, Ida Williams of Vicksburg; three brothers, Rufus Johnson of Eaton Town, N.J., and Harvey Lewis and Ed Lewis, both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including David Gibbs, Tommylee Gibbs, Pearlie Walton, the Mann family and other members of the Gibbs family, all of Vicksburg.
Margie B. Lightsey
KILBOURNE, La. Margie B. Lightsey died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.
A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Mrs. Lightsey taught at Kilbourne High School for more than 30 years before retiring in 1978. She also taught an adult Bible study class for 40 years at the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Herman Lightsey.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Cain of Vicksburg, Sylvia Lightsey of Columbia and Janet Wiggins of Warrensburg, Mo.; two sons, Glynn Lightsey of Waco, Texas, and Max Lightsey of Orlando, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kilbourne United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Chappell, pastor, the Rev. Donna Whitehead, niece of the deceased, and the Rev. Brent Lightsey, grandson of the deceased, officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Best, Don Murray, Bill Langston, John A. Tullos, Eric Stephens and David Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Littlefield, A.C. Fryday and Lennis Murray.
Johnny McDonald
TALLULAH Johnny McDonald died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was 74.
A construction worker, Mr. McDonald was a member and deacon at Mount Able M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Honeycutt and Katherine Cage Honeycutt; a brother, Dan Honeycutt Jr.; a sister, Hattie Mae Honeycutt; and one son, Charlie McDonald.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae McDonald of Tallulah; four sons, Billy Ray McDonald and Albert Lee McDonald, both of Vicksburg, Kenneth Winters McDonald of Tallulah and Woodie Frank McDonald of Las Vegas; four daughters, Carla McDonald Puckett of Tallulah, Ruby McDonald of Los Angeles, LuVerne McDonald Bolden of Las Vegas and Juanita McDonald of Texas; two brothers, Andrew Honeycutt of Tallulah and George Honeycutt of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lillie Mae Marshall of Tallulah and Johnnye Mae Sanford of Chicago; 26 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church, 305 5th St., in Tallulah.
Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Albert D. Warnock
Albert D. Warnock died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at River Region West. He was 83.
Born in Phoenix, Miss., Mr. Warnock had been a longtime resident of Vicksburg. He helped operate Warnock’s Service Center with his brother and was an Army Air Corps veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Kay Richards; a son, Bobby Warnock; a brother, Ernest Warnock; and a sister, Myrthea Gordon.
Survivors include his wife, Margie D. Warnock of Vicksburg; a son, Ron Warnock of Canton, Ga.; two daughters, Linda Stevenson of Vicksburg and Sandra Russell of Fayetteville, Ga.; a brother, Willie Warnock Jr. of Vicksburg; three sisters, Elizabeth Wells of Redwood, Mary Helen Webster of Oak Ridge and Evelyn Sanderford of Rolling Fork; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Kindhart, Corey Kindhart, Josh Warnock, Thomas Palmer, Caleb Richards, David Richards, Chad Warnock and Brad Warnock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rachel Forte, Brenda Alderidge, Donna Emerson, Cindy Lewis and Rebecca Tatum.
