Juanita Reed Jackson
Services for Juanita Reed Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.
A Claiborne County native, Mrs. Jackson lived in Indianapolis, Ind., for more than 50 years before moving to Vicksburg. She was a member of Bright Morning Star M.B. Church.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Jackson; her mother, Leola Reed Jones; her father, Willis Paige; a stepson, Maurice Vance; a grandson, Richard Anderson; and her companion, Bennie Vance.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosie L. Nash and Leola Long, both of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Carla Jones and Martha Vance of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Sally Mae O’Bannon Lee
ROLLING FORK Sally Mae O’Bannon Lee died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 79.
Mrs. Lee was born in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville High School. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and had lived in Rolling Fork since 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, where she served as vestry secretary.
She is survived by her husband, I.S. Lee of Rolling Fork; three sons, Robert W. Lee and Richard E. Lee, both of Rolling Fork and I.S. Lee IV of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Ernest H. O’Bannon of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Henrietta Haney of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.
Conie McCoy Medlin Jr.
TALLULAH Conie McCoy “Mac” Medlin Jr. died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 74.
A lifelong resident of Madison Parish, Mr. Medlin was a farmer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church.

Julius D. Melsheimer
Julius D. Melsheimer died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 87.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Melsheimer was the son of the late Frank A. and Geraldine Partee Melsheimer. He was a 1934 graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He co-owned Melsheimer’s Inc. until his retirement in 1994.
He was a past board member of the Chamber of Commerce, a past member of the board of Hinds Community College and a former grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 898. He was a founding member of the 20 Club and a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Mr. Melsheimer was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine M. Irby and Elizabeth M. Schuppan, and four brothers, Frank Melsheimer, Fred Melsheimer, Clarence Melsheimer and Gerald Melsheimer.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Melsheimer of Vicksburg; one daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Doiron of Vicksburg; a brother, Sam Melsheimer of Placquemine, La.; three grandchildren, Julie Lizabeth Sosebee of Madison, Jacqueline “Danielle” Warnock of Meridian and Phillip L. Doiron Jr. of Hartsville, S.C.; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home with rosary at 7.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jackson, John Hill, Sam Lusco, J.C. Hullum Jr., Howard Benson, Mike Katzenmeyer, Luke Katzenmeyer and Fred Katzenmeyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Williams, Bill Floyd, Ed Habeeb, Sperry Bartlett, Albert “Chink” Sullivan Jr., Ed Cox, Jimmy Waring, Will Dornbusch, Walter May, Charles Crowther, Dr. Walter Johnston and Joe Canizaro.

Faye Catherine Sipes
JACKSON Faye Catherine Sipes died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 85.
Mrs. Sipes was born in McNairy County, Tenn., to the late Poney and Leila Gibson of Bethel Springs, Tenn. She was a longtime resident of Jackson.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Union University and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught for 30 years at Forest Hill Elementary and High schools. She was a charter member of Belvedere Church of Christ and Siwell Road Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Sipes was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar A. Sipes; a sister, Jewell Hayes; and a son, Charles G. Sipes.
Survivors include two sisters, Merle Weatherford and Janice Rogers of Selmer, Tenn.; one daughter, Eva Sipes Cleveland of Nashville; one son, Alan Sipes of Jackson; grandchildren, including Patty Sipes Mekus of Vicksburg; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Siwell Road Church of Christ with Mark Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.
Joanna B. Steen
Services for Joanna B. Steen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. James Biedenharn officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight.
Mrs. Steen died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 63.
A native of Batesville, Mrs. Steen lived in Vicksburg for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Steen was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. William Steen; her parents, Creed and Mabel Arickson Beaver; two brothers, Clifford Beaver and Wayne Beaver.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Miller of Crowder, Laurie McNeil of Vicksburg, and Susan Chapman of Pontotoc; a son, Bo Bufkin of Cleveland; a sister, Robin Self of Batesville; three brothers, Jim Beaver, Tony Beaver and Jerry Beaver, all of Batesville; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dale Beaver, Tony Beaver, David Bufkin, Donnie Smith, Alton Walter and Bobby Nalley.
