The Vicksburg Post prints obituaries for residents, former residents and residents’ immediate family members who resided elsewhere when notified by a family member or a funeral home. There is no charge for printing an obituary, but all are edited to meet the newspaper’s requirements.

Mary Ann Brown

Services for Mary Ann Brown will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Vicksburg. She was 60.

She was retired and a member of St. James M.B. Church.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Newton, and her husband, David Brown.

Survivors include three sons, Lawerence Newton and Christopher Brown, both of Vicksburg, and Donald Newton of Fayetteville, N.C.; her mother, Lucy Mae Williams of Seaside, Calif.; six brothers, Matthew Williams, Jake Williams, Johnnie Williams, Earl Williams and Buck Williams, all of Seaside, and Amos Griffin of South Carolina; two sisters, Mattie Mae Williams of Seaside and Augustine Williams of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including members of the Bell, Clark, Jackson, Heard and Tugwell families.
