Cynthia Diane Bunton-Smith

PORT GIBSON Cynthia Diane Bunton-Smith of Port Gibson died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 46.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bunton.

Survivors include her husband, Horace Smith of Port Gibson; three sons, Damion Jones, Malcolm Hassen and Frank Grant Jr., all of Port Gibson; three brothers, Donnie Jones of Vicksburg and Charles Bunton III and Roy Bunton, both of Port Gibson; two sisters, Hattie Bunton of Vicksburg and Keisha Bunton of Port Gibson; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at A.W. Watson Gymnasium with Brother Robert Clark officiating. Burial will be at East Mount Olive Cemetery in Redlick.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and from 10 a.m. Monday until the service at the church.

Margaret I. Daffron

FLORA Margaret I. Daffron died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at her home in Flora. She was 80.

Mrs. Daffron lived most of her life in Vicksburg and had lived in Flora for the past five years. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Daffron is survived by seven daughters, Stella Irene D. Muirhead of Port Gibson, Shirley Elaine D. Proctor of Southaven, Delores Maxine D. Giegerich and Betty Eileen D. Warnock, both of Vicksburg, and Patricia “Pat” Helen D. Perry and Vera Mae D. Climer, both of Flora, and Barbara Ann D. Summerlin of Florence; five sons, James “Jimmy” Arnold Daffron, Martin “Marty” William Daffron and Donald “Donnie” Louis Daffron, all of Vicksburg, Robert Earl Daffron of Eros, La., and Ronald “Ronnie” Cary Daffron of Florence; two sisters, Mildred Allen of Yazoo City and Helen McClure of Houlka; four brothers, Ernest Roush of Clarksdale, Charles Roush and Leland Roush, both of Monroe, La., and Earl Roush of Macon; 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Blythe officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Daffron, Martin Daffron, Chuck Daffron, Robert Daffron, Ronald Daffron, Charles McLaughlin, Donald Daffron and Tommy McLaughlin.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Elton W. Dotson

Elton W. Dotson died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in an accident in Vicksburg. He was 14.

Elton was a student at Warren Central Junior High School and was a member of the football team. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Church in Pattison.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lillie McDaniels; and his paternal step-grandfather, Anderson Walker.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vivian and Danny Hyder Sr. of Vicksburg; his father, Roosevelt Dotson Jr. of Port Gibson; eight brothers, Markus Hyder of Vicksburg, Danny Hyder Jr., Bobby Dotson, Anthony White, De Rodrick Dotson, Jarvis Banks, Joshua Williams and Markelle Banks, all of Port Gibson; seven sisters, Erica Williams and Dana Hyder, both of Vicksburg, Shernice Dee, Do Ollie Dotson, Courtney Banks, and Veronica White, all of Port Gibson, and Patricia Dotson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; paternal grandparents, Josephine Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Roosevelt Dotson Jr. of Port Gibson; paternal stepgrandmother, Susie Newsome of Port Gibson; and maternal grandmother, Daisy Simmons of Laurel.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

Elease Doyle

Elease Doyle died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 67.

Mrs. Doyle was a retired nurse and owner and operator of Burger Village in downtown Vicksburg. She was a member of St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church where she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Fellowship Hall. She was a member of the NAACP, the Vicksburg Convention Center Advisory Board and the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Doyle was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Malinda Fair Tucker.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Doyle; five brothers, Willie James Tucker of Fayette, Ernest Tucker and Albert Crayton, both of Chicago, Lawrence Crayton of Donners Grove, Ill., and Calvin Crayton of Atlanta; five sisters, Barbara Jean McGowan, Vera Crayton and Denise Hudson, all of Chicago, and Irene Diane Unokiwe and Patricia Crayton, both of Staten Island, N.Y., and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie James officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church.

Willie Mae Marshall Harrison

CHICAGO Willie Mae “Little Sis” Marshall Harrison died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Chicago. She was 70.

A native and longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Harrison attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and lived in Chicago for many years.

She was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Harrison; her parents, Dan and Willie Mae Marshall; and a sister, Willie Bee Marshall.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Harrison of Chicago; a daughter, Mary Harrison of Wichita, Kan.; a son, Lenox Harrison of Chicago; a sister, Annie Mae Frazier of Norfolk, Va.; and other relatives, including members of the Marshall, Wince, Pilate, Patterson and Plump families of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Chicago. Visitation will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Gatling Funeral Home of Chicago is in charge of the arrangements.

Joshua Cortez Parker

Joshua Cortez Parker died Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was 16.

Joshua was a sophomore at Warren Central High School. He attended New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Patricia Stewart of Vicksburg; three brothers, Michael Parker, Jerome Parker and Sam Parker, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Jessica Stewart of Vicksburg; maternal grandparents, Juanita O’Neal and Herman Parker Sr. of Vallejo, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Stewart of Hollandale; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
