Susie Bell
PORT GIBSON Susie Bell died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 93.
Miss Bell was a resident of Port Gibson.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Hamilton of Port Gibson and Annie Williams of Greenville; a daughter, Debbie Sue Nash of Port Gibson; six grandchildren, Dinetra Nash, Freddie Nash and Ashley Nash, all of Port Gibson, and Dennis Graise, Cheryl Graise and Randy Graise, all of Detroit; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Bell Family Cemetery in the Willows Community under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until the service Wednesday at the church.
Mary Jo Garrett Burns
MARRERO, La. Mary Jo Garrett Burns died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in New Orleans. She was 58.
A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Burns was a resident of Marrero, La. She was a registered nurse for more than 30 years. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. and True Vine M.B. Church in Westwego, La., where she served as senior choir president.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta Garrett and Henry Brady, and a cousin, the Rev. George C. Garrett.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Burns Jr. of Marrero and Billy Joe Burns of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Gwendolyn A. Burns, Rickey R. Burns and Melanie A. Burns, all of Marrero; two sisters, Mildred G. Benard and Aola G. Mason, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including JeRutha Garrett, Lillie Kent and members of the Garrett, Kent, Atkins and Martin families of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at True Vine M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie J. Moore officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Davis Mortuary.
Visitation will be from 7 until 10 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Michael Toran Floyd
NORCROSS, Ga. Michael Toran Floyd died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, in Norcross, Ga. He was 29.
A resident of Norcross, Mr. Floyd was a truck driver for Metropolitan Trucking Co. He was a 1992 graduate of Warren Central High School, and he attended Alcorn State University.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Mable Jackson and Abe Floyd Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Abe and Betty Floyd Jr. of Vicksburg; three brothers, Abe Floyd III of Jonesboro, Ga., and Darryl Floyd and Tommy Jackson, both of Norcross; a sister, Doris Fisher of Vicksburg; his grandmother, Mary Floyd of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Terrel Loving of Vicksburg.
Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
