Henry, Moffett advance to state tourney

[4/16/03]Vicksburg High’s Jordan Henry and Angelique Moffett advanced to the MHSAA Class 5A state tournament with wins Monday at the division tournament.

Henry lost only one game in two matches, beating Warren Central’s Steven Faulk 6-0, 6-0, and Forest Hill’s Brandon Nelson 6-1, 6-0, in winning the boys’ singles championship.

Moffett defeated Warren Central’s Caitlin Shelton 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, in a two-hour marathon to advance to the state tournament, but withdrew before the finals because of illness.

Vicksburg finished third in the team standings.

The state tournament will be April 28-29 in Jackson.
