Daisy Green

Daisy “Grandma Daisy” Green died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at her home. She was 91.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She was a member of Evergreen M.B. Church where she served as a church mother and a former usher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phenox Green; two sons, Arthur Lee Jackson and L.C. Jackson; a brother, Perry Mitchell; and three sisters, Mary Ellis, Cornelius Todd and Jo Ellis.

Survivors include a son, Elbert Jackson of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Letide Smith of Milwaukee, Wis., and Dora Mae Burks of Redwood; a sister, Mattie Johnson of Jackson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ann Cook Kyrola

Ann Cook Kyrola died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at her home. She was 56.

Born in Jackson, Ms. Kyrola had lived a number of years in Edwards. She was a Vicksburg resident for the past five years and a retired budget assistant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

She was preceded in death by a son, Justin Cook.

Survivors include a son, Ryan Cook of Vicksburg; a brother, I.M. “Duke” Lewis of Terry; and a grandchild, Evan Cook of Vicksburg.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Robbins

Dorothy Robbins died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Robbins was a member of American Legion Tyner Post 213, the Elks Lodge and Pleasant Green M.B. Church. She was an insurance agent for Security Life Insurance Company of Jackson and W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Clarence Alonzo Sims Jr. and James T. Robbins; her mother, Blanche Murphy; her father; and a son, Larry George Sims.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence Alonzo Sims, Michael B. Sims and Chauncey Leon Robbins, all of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives including, the Berry, Brayboy, Dennis, Sims and Taylor families.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

William Bradley Smith

ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. William Bradley “Brad” Smith died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, from injuries received in an automobile accident near St. Francisville, La. He was 18.

A St. Francisville native, Mr. Smith was a student at ITI Technology College in Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Lillian “Peggy” Smith, and a grandfather, Rehan Hudnall Jr.

He is survived by his parents, Louis N. and Susan Hudnall Smith of St. Francisville; a sister, Rebecca Renae Smith of St. Francisville; two brothers, Louis Neyland Smith Jr. and Jonathan Ross Smith, both of St. Francisville; a grandfather, Eddie L. Smith Jr. of Lake Mary, Miss.; a grandmother and stepgrandfather, Carol and Freddie Geter of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Krystal Duckworth of St. Francisville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Walter Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, Miss.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Berryhill Funeral Home n Woodville.

Pallbearers will be E.J. Areeneaus, Ryan Laney, Rusty Kleinpeter, Adam Cornette, Brandon Daniel and James Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Stewart Daniel, Josh Prince, David Bailey, Justin Mote, Eddie Covington, David Hidalgo, Josh Rickets, Justin Williams and Brent Roberts.

Judith Strong

Judith “Bibb” Strong died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 82.

Born in Delta City, Miss., Mrs. Strong had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 62 years. She was retired from Westinghouse Corp. and a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Strong; two sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Powell of Shoshoni, Wyo., Jo Ann Dougherty of Vicksburg, Judy Gail Dean of Rapid City, S.D., and Linda Faye Collins of Port Gibson; a brother, Duncan Boykin of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Vriesen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Dougherty, Steve Dougherty, Neal Dougherty, Mark Daniels, Jay Powell and Jerry Lewis.
