James Alexander

James “Gee Gee” Alexander died Wednesday, April 30, 2003. He was 41.

Mr. Alexander was born in Vicksburg and lived in Delta, La. He was formerly employed by Gay Electric Co. and was also a self-employed electrician.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah H. Alexander of Delta; three daughters, Kayla Thompson of Lawton, Ok., Carrie Alexander of Dayton, Texas., and Alexis Alexander of Delta; his mother, Mettie H. Alexander of Delta; and three brothers, George H. Alexander and Tommy Alexander, both of Vicksburg, and T.J. Alexander of Delta.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 11 Tuesday at Glenwood.

Mary Blackmore

Mary “Mae Mae” Blackmore died of cardiac arrest Saturday, May 3, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 47.

Ms. Blackmore was affiliated with St. James M.B. Church and was a private-duty home health nurse. She was a 1974 graduate of North Vicksburg High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Sr. and Sally Simpson Blackmore.

Survivors include a daughter, Felicia Rochell Blackmore of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charlie Blackmore Jr. and Robert Lee Blackmore, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Jo Ann Green of Vicksburg and Mary L. Fall of Houston, Texas; and a host of other relatives including the Banks, Brown, Mace and Simpson families of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Acie Cameron

FAYETTE Acie Cameron died of heart failure Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital. He was 50.

Born in Franklin County, Mr. Cameron served as a deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and a police officer with the Fayette Police.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nate Cameron and Rosie Lee Ashley; and two brothers, Nate Cameron and Earnest Cameron.

Survivors include one daughter, Lakrisha Denise Gibson of Summit; two brothers, Julius Ray Cameron of Detroit, Mich., and Andrew Cameron of Fort Worth, Texas; six sisters, Katie Anderson of Memphis, Tenn., Dorothy Mae Cameron of Meadville, Annie Maroney of Fort Worth, Flora Lee Cameron of Detroit, Rosie Buckles of Roxie, and Betty Rice of Ratcliff, Ky.; three uncles, Johnnie B. Ashley of Detroit, Henry Ashley of Fort Worth, and Charles Ashley of Memphis; two aunts, Pauline Ashley of Chicago and Carrie Ashley of Memphis; one stepdaughter, Tracy Grayson of Fayette; and one stepson, Eric Grayson of Fayette.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rollins with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Meadville Cemetery in Meadville.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Monday at Rollins Chapel.

William Parker

William “Billy” Parker died Friday, May 2, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

Mr. Parker was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and was a pipefitter with the Local Pipefitters Union. He worked with Grand Gulf.

He was a paratrooper with the 31st Airborne Division in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars #2572 and the American Legion Post #3.

A Carr Central graduate, Mr. Parker was of the Church of Christ faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Beulah Paschal Parker; a brother, James E. Parker; and a sister, Mary Lee Cook.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Raybur of Sebewaing, Mich.; five daughters, Susie Hedgepeth of Purvis, Carolyn Maynard of Flatwood, Ka., Sharon Wood of Houston, Texas, Shelby Dupuy of Marksville, La., and Melissa Wyatt of Vicksburg; four sisters, Frances Sibley, Thelma Leist and Patsy Russell, all of Vicksburg, and Dorothy Childers of Cordele, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Reggie Crawford and the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Glenn Prewitt, John Agostinelli, Dean Leist, Chester Redditt, Gary Russell and Elvin Westcott.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Lee Giffin, Dr. Susan Chiarito, Dr. Murray P. Whitaker and members of the Local Pipefitters Union.

Ernest D. Prine II

ROLLING FORK Ernest D. “Danny” Prine II died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 46.

Born in Lambert, he was a resident of Rolling Fork for 12 years and served as a mechanic for Peaster Tractor Co. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila S. Prine of Rolling Fork; three sons, Matthew Daniel Prine of Rolling Fork, James Daniel Prine of North Carolina and Ernest Daniel Prine III of Clarksdale; one daughter, Jennifer Nicola Prine of Georgia; his parents, Ernest Daniel Sr. and Wilma J. Prine both of Clarksdale; two sisters, Kathie Prine Morris of Clarksdale and Roxanne Prine Campbell of Amory; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today at the Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork with the Revs. Millard Caulder and Linnie Maples officiating.

Pallbearers are Michael Rist, David Mann, Arthur Reed, J.W. Perkins, Joey Walden, Richard Catron, Charles Sumrall, Mike Barlow and Ray Watson.
