Evelyn Givens Middleton

Evelyn Givens Middleton died Monday, March 17, 2003, at her daughter’s home in Jackson. She was 66.

Mrs. Middleton served as church secretary at King David M.B. Church No. 2.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Tolliver Sr.; a son, Harold L. Givens; a grandchild, Dominick Givens; and two sisters, Mottel Doss and Annie Mae Tolliver.

She is survived by five daughters, Dobra Pulliam and Debra Scott, both of Memphis, Delphine Givens Smith and Nadia Middleton, both of Vicksburg, and Alexelisha Sanders Luckett of Jackson; three sons, Benjamin Givens of Vicksburg, Joel Givens of Atlanta and Dennis Givens of Jackson; five brothers, David Tolliver, Robert Tolliver and Elisha Tolliver, all of Vicksburg, Harold Tolliver of Aurora, Ill., and Emmanuel Tolliver of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six sisters, Louise Bunch of Detroit and Bessie Smith, Roxie Hebron, Cassie Parker, Savannah Williams and Alean Luster, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including Billy Ferguson, Victoria Ray, David Ray and Hope Hicks.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Olivia Walker

PORT GIBSON Olivia Walker died Monday, March 17, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Walker was a resident of Port Gibson and a member of Second Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Walker; her parents, Bill and Mary Jenkins; a brother, Richard Jenkins; five sisters, Allean Jenkins, Carrie Moore, Cloe Jenkins, Bertha White and Annie Wells.

Survivors include three sons, Eddie Walker of Chicago and Charlie Walker and Jimmy Walker, both of Port Gibson; six daughters, Fannie Smith, Bertha Green and Alma Weston, all of Chicago, Carrie McCray of Zion, Ill., and Cynthia Walker and Wendy Walker-McCay, both of Port Gibson; two sisters, Hannah Parker and Louise Buie, both of Port Gibson; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Phillip Cemetery in Hermanville under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from noon Friday until the service at the church.
