George Franklin Ellis Sr.

LAKE PROVIDENCE George Franklin Ellis Sr. died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at his home in Delhi. He was 76.

Mr. Ellis was born in Sondheimer, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Lillar Ellis and a son, George F. “Bubba” Ellis.

He is survived by four daughters, Genia Arthur and Sharon Kavanaugh, both of Vicksburg, Linda Ellis of Monroe, La. and Lynn Moravetz of Dallas, Ga.; six sons, James Ellis and Matt Ellis, both of Kiln, Miss., Buddy Ellis of Lewisburg, Tenn., Richard “Bo” Ellis and Johnny Ellis, both of Monroe, La. and Danny Ellis of Deluth, Ga.; his ex-wife Julia Ellis of Monroe and 17 grandchildren and five great-granchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Chapel in Lake Providence. Burial will follow at the Lake Providence City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family members.

William Smith Jr.

OAK GROVE William “Will” Smith Jr. died Friday, May 30, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La. He was 64.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Lester D. Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith of Lake Providence, La.; his mother, Lucille Smith of Eudora, Ark.; three daughters, Angela Braswell Hagan of Eudora, Ark., Maxine Braswell of Fort Worth, Texas and Amanda Braswell Roberts; a son, Dean Smith; a sister, Rachel McHan; and a brother, Darold Smith and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove, La. with the Revs. Carpenter and Mike Howard.

Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Oak Grove.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Ainsworth, Don Catron, Doug Keen, Steve Williamson, Ricky Johnson and Stan Budraitis.

Ledester Coleman Williams

Ledester Coleman Williams died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at her home in Vicksburg. She was 84.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Mount Carmel M.B. Church, where she was a former usher and a member of the Missionary Society. She was a member of Grace Chapter No. 5 Order of Eastern Star and had also served as assistant grand secretary to Marth Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Williams; two brothers, Lacey Coleman and George Jones; and a sister, Elmerree Coleman.

She is survived by three sons, Joe W. Ross of Bakersfield, Calif., Willie L. Ross of Newport News, Va. and Hillary Doby Winn of Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters Doretha E. Jackson and Bobbie J. Winn, both of Hyattsville, Md., Mary L. Washington and Elmerree Bradley, both of Vicksburg; twelve grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
