PORT GIBSON JaKerriyun Kentrell Archer, infant son of Jamie Watson and Felecia Archer of Port Gibson, died Friday, March 28, 2003.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Wilton Archer Jr. and Ar’monie Archer, both of Port Gibson; his maternal grandparents, Lillian Simmons and Earl Truitt, both of Port Gibson; his paternal grandparents, Jimmy Watson and Joan S. Watson, both of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends including, Shirley Hyder, Latonya Rankin and Kawanna Johnson, all of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 18 in Port Gibson, with the Rev. James Buck officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Jack Gilbert

TALLULAH Jack Gilbert died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital. He was 79.

Mr. Gilbert was born in Madison Parish and was a lifelong resident of Tallulah. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II and was a route supervisor for Cotton’s Bakery for 30 years. He also served as justice of the peace for a number of years.

Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Church of Christ and American Legion Post No. 100.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Gilbert; and a son, Keith Gilbert.

Survivors include one son, Charles “Bug” Gilbert of Port Gibson; two daughters, Pam Skeldon and Deb Gilbert, both of Tallulah; a brother, Jerry Gilbert of Harrah, Okla.; two sisters, June Womack and Juanita Scherer, both of Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Thomas, Ralph Dowe, Art Skeldon, Jay Skeldon, Craig Gilbert and Adam Gilbert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Lancaster, Donald B. Lancaster and Racer Holstead.

Billy M. Hall

Billy M. Hall died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home. He was 55.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hall was a Navy veteran. He was an electrician and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, John Hall of Louisiana; a daughter, Sandra Hall of Vicksburg; two sisters, Laura Mullins of Vicksburg and Becky Barlass of Big Cabin, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Carl Roberts, J.W. Carroll, Walter Day, Robert Collins, Trey Martin and Larry Martin.

Laura Harris

PORT GIBSON Laura Harris died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Claiborne County Hospital. She was 86.

A resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Harris was a church mother at Whitehall M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Harris and Elizabeth Ellis Harris; a son, Baron Jefferies; five brothers, William H. Harris Jr., Baron Harris, Palmek Harris, Riley Harris and David Harris; and five sisters, Amanda Scott, Martha Buck, Queen E. Harris, Elizabeth Beesley and Sarah Gibson.

Survivors include a daughter, Para Lee Dorsey of Port Gibson; seven grandchildren, Ora Guinn, Laura Prather and Daisy Dee, all of Vicksburg, and Eddie Dorsey, Brenda Bailey, Shelia James and Jerrie Jackson, all of Port Gibson; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including Danny Beesley and Betty Porter, both of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Whitehall M.B. Church in Pattison with the Rev. Leroy Dee officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from noon until the service Thursday at the church.
